CPSE to CSE

Can someone explain to me how this works? DS started receiving speech services last March and at that time, they wrote IEPs for both March thru June and for the entire school year.

Tomorrow I have a meeting with them to review his speech progress and because we also had him evaluated for OT and PT (he will likely qualify for PT, not OT). The coordinator from Little Village told me this meeting only determines now thru June and the summer and that there will be another meeting for school-aged services. He'll be 5 in November, so he'll actually be 4 when he enters school if that makes a difference.

So is this true? These meetings kill me because you have no say in the date or time and I work full-time.

Yes that is true. But you do have a say in when the meetings are. They can not hold the meeting without you and if the date is no good for you then tell them to reschedule. They may tell you that they can not, but by law they have to make every attempt to get you to the meeting.

Yes, there are 2 meetings, but my district combines them, so you only have to attend one time. They do the CPSE portion first and then the CSE portion. Call the district and see if this is a possibility so you don't have to miss work on two separate occasions. Usually, All the same people are there, so it should be possible.

Thanks, found out today it was scheduled for May 1 when we are away anyway, so we moved it to when I can attend. Glad to hear it will only be one meeting.
