Cramps and Nauseous - help! (maybe tmi)

For the past year and a half, I have been getting the worst period cramps the first 2 days of my period (sorry if this in TMI). And I actually feel super nauseous, so much so that I have left work and like today I changed my plans because I feel so sick.

Does this happen to anyone else?

I have asked my gyno about it and she said that it is hormones & the pill could fix it, but I can't take the pill because I have a blood condition. I am so sick of feeling like this every month. Is there anything else that I could do?

thanks

when i am NOT ttc and i know af is coming i take heavvvvy doses of advil a day or two before af starts and it really helps alot!!!

This happens to me on the 1st day of my period some months, but not all.

It has gotten so much worse as i've gotten older. In my teens and early 20s i barely even got cramps.

Feel better!

I get really bad cramps and often through up from them as well. The only thing that ever helped (besides going on the pill) was to start taking Aleve a day or two before my period was supposed to start, and cut out caffeine. My doctor told me to do this and it made such a difference.

I get migraines too but I can always fee them.

I usually take mortin for the cramps but next month I'll try Advil or Aleve and I will try to take it a day or two before.

It's so annoying feeling so nauseous. My MIL suggested Emetrol for the nausea and it seemed to help a little bit.

Re: Cramps and Nauseous - help! (maybe tmi)

this happens to me as well.

I also get sick at ovulation too so it's a double whammy. I was on BC for 10 years because of this and felt fine.
Went off 2 years ago and about a year later started with the symptoms again. Now they are in full force.

I get Headaches, Nauseated & EXTREME ovary pain during ovulation, right before my period and on the last day of my period too. It's horrible

If you find something that works, please share!

before I was ever on the pill i was like this. The gyno used to prescribe me 500mg naproxin and it helped a ton! (you could just take alot of alieve its the same drug in a smaller dose)

i had this very badly when i was in high school.

i would get my period and the world would know - i would get SO much paler than i am (and i'm the whitest girl in the world) - and i'd get clammy and sweaty and it was just a matter of time before it was time to hit the nurse and want to die.

eventually, i found out i had ovarian cysts on both of my ovaries and that sort of explained the pain. once i was put on the pill, life got MUCH better for me. other than that - NO amount of painkillers did it.

i can say now that i'm no longer on the pill (i'm 36 now) - i don't have the problem - so my long term birth control pill taking seems to have helped.

I did the pill for a while. Also did over the counter pain relievers For example I did one Aleve a day a few before AF would start. I also ended up using midol and would basically overdose on it just to survive the first 4 days of AF. But this never fixed the problem, you know? Went to a bunch of doctors- all told me I was fine, nothing was wrong. They had no answer, even though 7 days a month I was completely out of commission.

I later found out I had a genetic condition which meant I should never have been on the birth control pill to begin with. Scary!

What finally helped me was homeopathy. I can't believe how it has turned my life around. I can't believe how much my cycles have changed. I am no longer paralyzed by them. I am amazed to finally feel "normal" cycles as I have never had them for the last 15 years.

I hope whatever you do to help relieve the pain makes each month easier for you.Chat Icon

My best answer is to google homeopathy. Here is the link to the homeopath I work with- you can learn about what homeopathy is from there too:

http://www.homeopathyamerica.com/

Many members of my family now use homeopathy and have seen remarkable improvements in their lives because of it. it is common in Europe, unfortunately not here. I took a remedy for a while, but have done so well that I have reduced what I am taking.

Doctors can go either way if you mention homeopathy to them... .some naturopaths and some Dr's are homeopaths too... but not common.

I know my RE had no problem with me seeing a homeopath and taking a remedy so long as the remedy did not effect.... um, I think estrogen. Can't remember now. But I am sure there are doctors that will roll their eyes at the sound of "homeopathy."

The reality is.... none of the traditional doctors helped me. They almost killed me with the BCP. So I had nothing to lose and in the end, gained more than I could have hoped for by turning to homeopathy.

I used to get like that, especially back in high school and college. I would get so pale, sometimes vomit and sometimes pass out (or nearly pass out).

My doctor gave me a prescription for Naproxyn (which is Alleve), which helped, but that was rough on my stomach so I had to deal w/the effects of that as well, but it did help. I also started taking calcium supplements every day (still do) which I think helped a lot.

My doctor also did a blood test and tested for anemia. She said that women can become anemic during that time (I wasn't). But, I did find that having a high iron meal (a steak, or even a burger, maybe some spinach) helped out a bit as well.

Good luck.

I've had this happen in the past from time to time. When I know my period is coming the next day, I'll start taking Midol (either the Extra Strength of the 12 Hour Relief...others don't work for me) IMMEDIATELY to prevent this from happening.
