Crashing - Possible Sensory Issues
DS will be 4 in April. He is a very active boy, has a hard time sitting still. LOVES to run. He's in daycare full time, and has been since he was an infant. He has some issues at daycare, the number one issue is he constantly runs in the classroom. He can and will sit for activities such as circle time. But only if it's something he's interested in. Otherwise, he's up and running laps. He plays rough with the other kids and doesn't seem to know his own strength. Even with me, I'm constantly telling him he's hurting mommy from climbing on me or hugging too tight.
He has some sensitivities to sounds. Public restrooms are always an issue. Loud toilet flushing and hand dryers are big triggers for him. Lately he's started to refuse to wear jeans because he says they're too tight, even though they're big on him. He insists on sweats and has a full meltdown if you try and put jeans on him. He's also sensitive to temperatures, like he hates ice cream because he says it's too cold.
I've had him evaluated through EI and CPSE but those were for speech issues. He had a slight delay and his pronunciation is not good but it wasn't enough to qualify for anything. Does this sound like he needs a sensory eval? Up until now I've been chalking it up to him being super active with the running issue. But now that pre-k is around the corner, I'm concerned about this affecting him at school.
Also - if he doesn't qualify through CPSE where should I start with getting a private eval through insurance? Thank you!

Re: Crashing - Possible Sensory Issues
I would request an OT eval through CPSE. My coworker actually just did this because although her DD had speech for EI and discontinued service, she was also concerned with sensory issues her DD was having.
