crashing with a question about my sis
Hi girls, I would really appreciate your input on this.
My lil sis found out she was pregnant a few weeks ago. Unfortunetly her betas were not rising properly and dr told her the pregnancy was not viable (they assumed she was about 6 weeks along)
Anyway she did not have a natural miscarriage after that apt so the dr decided she would rather her take this type of suppositiry to bring on the miscarriage than do the DNC since she was so early on.
Well my sister took the first suppository last night and is having a really difficult time. She is extremely crampy to the point where she needed to take a pain killer. She has been vomitting like crazy and overall feels miserable. Unfortunetly the dr does not think she has bled enough and wants her to take a second suppositry now. She is scared and sick and my whole family feels horrible because she lives in Maine and is basically on her own there (except for her DH)
I just thought I would come here and find out if this sounds normal to any of you, or does it sound like something may be wrong. I mean she is describing it as if she is in labor (thats how much pain).
If you read all this, thank you, and again, I am sorry to come here but I know you girls are all so helpful with one another and right now I am feeling helpless TIA Jess

Re: crashing with a question about my sis
if i were her, i would go to the emergency room...
i was in a lot of pain one night and i was throwing up... I took an extra strength tylenol and it worked for me... if she needs a pain killer to get rid of the pain I would assume its something more serious...

Re: crashing with a question about my sis
When I had my m/c I had horrible, painful cramping - it felt like labor pains. Mine was natural but I went to the ER anyway. If I were here I would go to the ER, better to be safe and they can keep an eye on what is going on.

Re: crashing with a question about my sis
First of all for your poor sister!!
I would find another doctor ASAP!! Like- if it's not too late to get in somewhere TONIGHT even .. I think if she's having such a horrible reaction to that stuff there must be something else that can be done and she needs to speak to a different doctor. Is there another doctor in that practice even? anyone? I would absolutely find someone new, FAST!
Sorry, I don't have an direct experience to what your sister is going through- but I was once under the care of a doctor and was taking a drug and was told to increase it (even though the drug itself was making me so sick) .. and I find out that drug in higher quantities wouldn't even have been safe!

Re: crashing with a question about my sis
I know someone who chose to end her pregnancy voluntarily and was given one of these suppositories. I believe she was about 8 weeks. She was told it would be less invasive and allow her to m/c in the privacy of her own home.
I think it's kind of irresponsible for doctors to give someone something to do this especially because if complications arise, you wouldn't know it and no one is monitoring you!
I'd recommend that she see another doctor immediately!

Re: crashing with a question about my sis
so she had to do 4 suppositories because she was not expelling everything. They are hoping the 4th one did enough to end this all. I believe she will go have a beta done this week to check that the #'s are going down.
Thanks for all your support and advice and good luck to each and every one of you

Re: crashing with a question about my sis
I'm going to send you an FM, but I too had such horrible pains when I took meds that I took the pain medication. It helped me sleep at night...The cramping was so bad, and I would think it would be like early contractions of real labor. I mean you are dialating and trying to get something out. I too had to take the meds a few times...in the end I had to have a D&C.
