Crawling
What are the first stages of crawling? My ds is pushing up on his hands (not elbows) and then mashing his face into the floor/blankets and putting his booty up in the air so he is V shaped. He then pushes his legs to scoot himself forward.

Re: Crawling
sounds like he might be starting.
As with other things, I think it is different for all kids. Each one seems to have their own style.

Re: Crawling
I agree every baby is different - including the ones that never crawl & go straight to walking.
Here's my take on stages of crawling
-Startle reflex - flailing arms & leg movements are precursors to crawling. -Reaching for things in front of them -Rolling over first accidentally, than purposefully - Lifting themselves up using their arms - Pushing themselves backward using their arms - Scooting their body forward to get a toy using flailing leg & arm movements - Beginning to use their legs & arms together to produce backward crawl. - Crawling in a wounded soldier crawl - - Getting on their knees & pushing up with their arms, rocking back & forth (also falling on their face) - Crawling by coordinating their left side & right side of their brain to produce alternating movement on both sides.
