Crazy conversation with a nurse at my OB's practice-WWYD
My back has been killing me all week. I just called the OB's office and spoke to the nurse. I told her that my back has been killing me all week, and it gets worse at night. I told her that it has been mostly on the left side which is where I also had the rash last week. I'm not sure if its a cause for concern, but I'm free today, and since I have an appointment scheduled for Wednesday, can I come in today instead if anyone is available.
She asked if I had pain in my stomach. I said no. She asked if I had pain or pressure in my vagina. I said occasionally I'll feel a little pressure. I sometimes feel like DD is kicking in my vagina.
She said I have to go to Labor and Delivery and be monitored right away since I called to say I have pain in my vagina.
I said "Whoa - I didn't call to say that, I called because I have back pain, and I wanted to see the Dr. today instead of Wednesday".... She said that the dr. would just tell me to to to L and D. I said "Can I please just come in and see the dr. first before going to the hospital" and she put another nurse on the phone, we went through the same thing, and then finally she gave me an appointment with the midwife at 3:30.
I've never seen the midwife before, so I'm kind of excited about that, but... Isn't this crazy????????
Would you just go to L and D from a phone conversation with a nurse who you think is blowing one sentence out of proportion or just see the midwife at 3:30?
And, if they are so concerned about me, why are they waiting until 3:30 to give me an appointment when I told them I am free all day.
Sorry so long, this whole thing was just scary and frustrating.
WWYD?

I would see how you feel today and if the pain gets worse, then go to L&D if not then I would wait until 3:30 to go to the midwife...just do what you feel is right, listen to your body, if you feel that something is really wrong, then don't hesitate to go to L&D. Good Luck!

I agree. Hope the pain gets better and your appt goes well.

Re: Crazy conversation with a nurse at my OB's practice-WWYD
Thanks ladies! The ironic thing is that it doesn't even feel that bad right now.... It really gets worse as the day goes on. I'm usually the kind of person that worries about everything - which is why I did call, but I really didn't think anything was seriously wrong -- I thought maybe I had a urinary tract infection or something, since I read on here that back pain sometimes is a symptom of that.
It will just really suck if I go to the appt at 3:30 and then have to go to L &D and then have to still keep my wed appt - I am packing and moving this week!!!!
I hope today will be instead of Wednesday. I constantly feel her kicking and moving around which I think is good.
