Crazy postpartum weight loss
By 2 months postpartum I was back down to my pre-pre-pregnancy weight (where I hovered for years and years, though about a year before I got pregnant, I lost about 20lbs on top of that.
But after that, I just stagnated, no matter how I ate or how much I worked out, so I stopped bothering.
Well, now, 4 months postpartum, all of a sudden it's coming off like crazy. I'm losing 2-3lbs a week with minimal effort.
Normal, or something to be a little concerned about?

Sleep??? HA! What's that???!! If it isn't Yael waking up, it's Alex waking up. I haven't slept more than 2-3 hours a night in almost 2 weeks!
But I digress... feeling ok... a little emotional, a lot tired, but ok. They dropped my thyroid medication a little just recently so maybe it has something to do with that.

Re: Crazy postpartum weight loss
could definitely be the medicine - could also be your body's way of letting you know you need to get more sleep/take better care of YOU

Yeah, well, the body is just going to have to talk to the kids about that one because there's nothing I can do to control that!

Re: Crazy postpartum weight loss
I would link it to your thyroid definitely...I had no prob dropping my pregnancy weight because I stayed on with the Synthroid increase I got when I was pregnant.....bonus!!!

Re: Crazy postpartum weight loss
I've lost alot of weight with minimal effort. I am 10 pounds under my PP weight and do not want to lose anymore. I'm attributing it to BF and DS had a milk allergy so I cut dairy out of my diet.

Re: Crazy postpartum weight loss
I am actually going through the same thing (not complaining here). I lost a bunch of weight and from 8 weeks pp until a few weeks ago I had not lost an ounce. All of a sudden I am down another 5 pounds in 2 weeks. Honeslt, I think it is houw normal pp weight loss happens. I remember going through the same thing with DD. Oh, and I have not really dieted either.

Re: Crazy postpartum weight loss
YES--10 days after giving birth, I was down 42 lbs Enjoy it!
BTW, are you nursing? I went back to WW and was losing 3 lbs. a week until I stopped nursing, and then the weight loss stopped dead in its tracks

Re: Crazy postpartum weight loss
My sister lost all her pregnancy weight within weeks of giving birth, and she kept losing. She had an overactive thryoid, and now being constantly monitored by her doc.

Re: Crazy postpartum weight loss
How are you feeling otherwise? Jumpy? palpitations? hot? I ended up with post partum thyroiditis after giving birth (usually starts a few months later) and was told at the time most women don't realize that they have it (it starts hyper thyroid then some return to normal others become hypothyroid). It couldn't hurt to go to your doctor and just request that they test your thyroid if you are losing weight and not really trying.
