Credit Card Consolidation Help
I am in the process of trying to consolidate all of my credit cards and reduce some of my payments. Does anybody know of any reliable companies that help with this?

Credit Card Consolidation Help
honestly I just took a loan out of my deferred comp (kind of like a 401k) to pay down debt. The interest rate is lower and I'm essentially paying myself back.

Re: Credit Card Consolidation Help
I would look into an unsecured loan or line of credit. If you have okay credit, and not a huge amount of debt, you should be able to do it without a consolidation company.

Re: Credit Card Consolidation Help
I use Consolidated Credit Counseling Serives, my mom has used them in the past as well. They have commercials on TV.
1-877-201-7780
They reduced my payments by less than half but they do the negotiating with the creditors and have automatic payments come out of my account every month. They handle the distribution of payments to the different cards.

Re: Credit Card Consolidation Help
If you can get a persoanl loan or some other type of line-of-credit you will be better off. The consolidation companies can be a negative mark on your credit score.

DH and I tried doing this before going to Consolidated Credit, we both had pretty good credit and all the places we went to said with the economy it is very hard to get any type of personal loan without nearly perfect credit.

Credit Card Consolidation Help
Have you tried calling the cards directly and asking for the rates to be reduced? That would be my first step before going to a consolidation company. I personally would NOT take out a personal loan unless I was discipined enough to not rack up my cards again. I only say this because I have a friend who took out a personal loan to consolidate and ended up racking up her cards again. Now she's stuck with a loan and more credit cards.

You know every financial institution is different. If you check out credit unions the rates are lower, and loans are risk-based... Which basically means if you have a lower credit score, your interest rate is higher. It's not much higher though. The underwriting guidelines have tightened up a bit since the recession, but it's still very possible to get an unsecured loan.

Re: Credit Card Consolidation Help
If you have good credit you could do a balance transfer and put all cc debt on one card with 0 interest for like 18mos. That way you won't have to pay interest and you'll have 18mos to pay off.

Credit Card Consolidation Help
I second consolidated credit, Im using them and they are working out great so far. Honestly, yes it may affect your credit score right now but in the long run you will be out of debt. Thats what matters to me, I am not buying a house or a car right now so I dont really care what my credit score is...good luck!
