Cremation for your pet
For those who have done this invidually, what kind of urn or box did you get?
I have to make this decision and I have no idea what to pick.
Also, do you remember how much this all was?
Pics are appreciated if you feel you want to post.
TIA..

Re: Cremation for your pet
When we were at the vet this weekend (we had to put our cat to sleep ) it was over $300 for the cremation, not sure if it included the urn. Our budget is tight so we opted for a group cremation. I'm sorry for your loss and understand your pain.

Re: Cremation for your pet
I got the wooden box with a place for the pets picture. Sorry I have no pics they are at my parents house in NY. I wanted to bring them here, but can't b/c of quarantine.
I got one for free (BIL was a pet cremator at the time) and the other 2 at a discount ($250) b/c he used to work for them. It shouldn't cost you more than $300.
Remember you can always get the basic package and then choose something you like and put him/her in that.
ETA: I got a private cremation all times.
ETA: try to get a private cremation for peace of mind.

thanks. We did opt for private cremation. I like the choice of the box with the picture but that seemed a little creepy to me. I like the wood box better than the urn, but I would like it engraved with his name and dates.
It also seems that I'm making too much of this? I don't want to make this out to be overkill.

I saw boxes that you can engrave in the Drsfosterandsmith.com catalogue a while back. Their prices seemed reasonable. Also if you google "pet memorial boxes" you should get some sites.
