Critique my fence quote
6 foot White vinyl 150 feet Two gates One arbor Removal of existing stockade fence This type fence but with square post caps:
$5300.00
I'm hoping if I just call other fence companies and give them the figures, they can quote me over the phone. Am I out of touch again, or is that high?

Re: Critique my fence quote
They won't quote over the phone - at least not anyone I called. Even the estimate that you get can change once they put the actual fence in.
We paid 6800 cash (it made a difference vs applying for credit or using a cc). That is 42% less than what we were originally quoted (same co.).
362 feet of fence. It was split between privacy and the fence you posted with the same flat caps. One 3 foot gate and one four gate.
We didn't have a fence to take down so that may be why it's high... plus the arbor?
I would keep getting quotes.

Re: Critique my fence quote
Here is a breakdown of our fence. We purchased it and paid for Home Depot to deliver it. The total cost of the fence, hardware, etc...was about $1,300. There here is the labor from the person that was recommended on here "Your Landscaping"
We had 76 feet in the back (we did stockade), then here is the breakdown for the front (all pvc) - not sure the total feet:
For the front part - two 5 foot gates, one 4 foot gate, seven 8 foot sections, 12 posts.
Install fence as discussed $500 Install double gate in driveway area - includes hardware $125 Remove existing chainlink, cut up & prepare for garbage pick up $100
FM me if you'd like their email address. They were very professional and did a great job. I will add pics.

Re: Critique my fence quote
Summer prices are always that high.
I saved $3K just by doing it in very Spring last year. Late Fall is also a good time to do it. Nobody gets their fence at that time.
Arbors are also VERY expensive.
All PVC is not equal. Most "reputable" companies on LI use a better grade PVC than a home improvement store.

That quote actually sounds right to me!
but obviously it makes sense to contact different co's for their prices as well.

ditto
we actually paid about twice that amount, but we had over 300 feet, and got the grey pvc panels in the middle Image Attachment(s):

Thanks Jennifer!! They said they were "throwing in" the removal of the old fence. There's not much - only 50 feet of six foot professionally installed stockade and about 30 feet of non-professional 4 foot picket.
The arbor is about $500. online... But removing that from the quote only brings it down to $4800. Can you FM or post who you used and if you're in Suffolk? I'd like to contact them, along with others I've seen recommended here - Rose Fence in particular.
MrsERod - my GOODNESS I LOVE your fence!! I've seen the colored pvc but only in tan, and we didn't like it that much. But in gray, it's really striking! That's almost the exact color of my house. I don't know if DH will go for it, but I'm going to show him your pics. Thanks so much for posting them, it's so pretty!

Re: Critique my fence quote
I agree, that's high! We have 367 feet of fence and were quoted $6,000 for 6' PVC with two gates.
I also agree about Home Depot and Lowe's and whoever else-they don't use the same grade of PVC as the smaller, private companies.
I have gotten several quotes and none of them will do it over the phone. They all come to the house and ALL get different square footage (within reason).

I agree plus I think it's a great price being that it includes 2 gates which are very $$$$

i also agree w/the type of fence you get from a place like home depot vs. a fence company----the fence companies have better quality

Re: Critique my fence quote
I don't think that is outrageous, but as a PP mentioned, this is the most expensive time of year to put in fence.
And "throwing in" the removal of the old fence is BS. That cost is included in the price you were quoted.

Re: Critique my fence quote
Thanks again ladies. I have an appointment Wednesday with Rose Fence. A salesman from Liberty finally called me back almost 2 days after my initial contact... I'll call him back on Tuesday to set something up.
We'll see how they compare! If you're interested, I'll update the other quotes for future reference if anyone needs it.
