cross post - bottle help please!!
Hi,
I started my registry and put the Born Free bottles on there. However, as many of you know, they are super expensive! I am justifying it by saying that once I have the initial supply, I won't need to buy more. Ok, but then I read they have parts that make them tough to clean, as Dr. Brown's is.
So then I thought of the playtex with liners. However, since we're having twins, I'd be going through hundreds of liners per month, that I may as well go w/ Born Free.
Then I was told by numerous people Advent leaks.
Any input or ideas on this?? I am under the gun to get this registry completed, so I am desperate for help!!
Thanks.

Re: cross post - bottle help please!!
I use Playtex Drop Ins. I DO NOT use the playtex liners, for a couple reasons.
I used the Playtex brand initially for a while, but then they changed their bottles and liners ( the 4oz ones did NOT change) to accommodate up to 10oz. The new liners are expandable. Stinks for me, b/c I only have 2-3 bottles with markings for the expandable liners. The directions on the new liners says if you have old bottles, use the markings on the liner, they are VERY hard to read.
The second reason i do not buy Playtex brand liners, they are MORE $$. I buy the Target brand. I believe they are 100 (for the 8oz) for 5.99. That is an average of $2 less than Playtex brand.
I chose to use the drop-ins mostly b/c it was just the nipple and ring that need daily cleaning. I do rinse the bottle daily, and do a "good" washing every couple of days.

DS didn't take to the playtex drop ins, but we loved the Avent Tempos. They are the same Avent nipple on a drop in bottle, they go up to 9oz.
The only thing is, my local Target doesn't seem to carry the liners anymore.

Try the Evenflo glass.... anything which is glass is BPA free. Gerber also makes plastics which are BPA free!
Kristina uses both of those bottles w/o any issues at all!
and they are super easy to clean!
ETA... Congratulations on

Re: cross post - bottle help please!!
born free bottle parts are much easier to clean than dr. browns... I hand wash all the bottles and parts and I've never had any problems...

ITA that Born Free bottles are easy to clean. I actually love the Born free bottles, and my DS has done very well with them. I recommend them.

After looking at that photo, I hope they are easy to clean! Looks like a number of parts, but I don't know many other options.

Re: cross post - bottle help please!!
we use dr. browns and haven't had any issues w/the cleaning - yeah, there are more parts, but i like the feel of them better than the avent
i didnt want to get the glass bottles b/c i bf and the antibodies stick to glass, so if ur thinking of bfing, you might want to look into the difference of plastic vs. glass.
congrats on ur twins...good luck

Thanks - I think I prefer the plastic just to avoid broken glass everywhere!!

Re: cross post - bottle help please!!
I think that you might find it much easier to use the drop ins. ESPECIALLY since you are having twins. A lot less cleaning and sterilizing

I was thinking that as well, but then also figured I'd be spending a fortune on the liners since I'd be going through them so fast! can't win, right??

yea this is true. you probably will be going through them like hot cakes. I know i do with one. But i just find it so much easier and less time consuming as with the reg bottles. But that is just me. I couldn't imagine cleaning all those bottles either.
GOOD LUCK
