FUN to make and really easy! I followed the recipe on Smitten Kitchen - the only difference was that I couldn't find Dutch process cocoa so I used regular cocoa and it game out just fine. I didn't make any other adjustments to the baking powder or soda to compensate and they still came out nice and flat (not fluffy or whoopie-pie like as was written in some of the comments). You really need to use a teaspoon to make the balls because that's the way to get them nice and small like a real oreo cookie. I cooked them for exactly 9 minutes and they were perfect. My only suggestion would be that next time I'd probably double the filling because everyone wanted them double-stuffed! They are delicious dipped into a cold glass of milk.

FYI: The cookies are hard like regular oreos. DH imagined them being like a soft cakester version, but they are just like the original oreo cookies. I imagine it could be fun to make imprints in the cookies too!

Getting ready to go in the oven. They spread quite a bit, but I was able to fit 20 cookies on each baking sheet. The recipe made 36 sandwich cookies.

Martha Stewart also has a great recipe for homemade oreos.
I made a cake once with homemade cookies and cream filling and homemade oreos to decorate. Delicious!
