CR*P! Weird Question

Do you have to change your name for voting? I voted in the past 2 elections and I just checked canivote.com and I am not registered under my maiden OR my married name?

Re: CR*P! Weird Question

How did you vote if you weren't registered. Do you have to re-register. I am only registered in my maiden name. They haven't switched it to my married name yet.

Re: CR*P! Weird Question

I registered when I was 18 and have voted in the past 2 elections. I never changed it to my married name- I checked the website and there is no record of my registration under my maiden or my maiden name. My question is do you need to change it in order to vote?

Re: CR*P! Weird Question

That is weird that that happened. I don't think you need to change it now but maybe for next time. I am not sure. I know that mine isn't changed and I can still vote even if it is in my maiden name. But I don't know if you can still vote. That is weird. I wonder if they screwed up since you were registered.

Re: CR*P! Weird Question

Did you try checking an old address...you may still be registered where you lived before you got married.

Re: CR*P! Weird Question

I'm still registered under my maiden name - I've been married 3 years. I checked just a couple of weeks ago.

Re: CR*P! Weird Question

Yes, I posted about this a few weeks ago. When I changed my name and went for my new license they had me full out a voter registration card. They never registered my new name, but took out my maiden name. Fortunately I found out before the deadline and reregistered.

Re: CR*P! Weird Question

I used to be registered under my maiden name and last county I lived in which was Kings County. Then I moved to Nassau county, and never changed my maiden to my new last name and now its too late to do it.
So therefore, I'm not able to vote in this election because the deadline was October 10th!

Re: CR*P! Weird Question

I'm registered under my maiden name and only changed my last name on my lisence last week. It says I'm still active to vote under my maiden name... so I guess we'll see what happens when I actually go to vote.
