Cruise with a 2 year old?
Am I crazy to consider this? We'd be going from NY to Bahamas with a stop in FL. 7 days. Any experiences to share?

Re: Cruise with a 2 year old?
Just know that they do not allow swim diapers in the pool. The last time we cruised they had a kiddy pool and though it said no swim diapers, all the little kids had them and no one said a word. I don't know if its like that on every ship or not. You will probably still be dealing with naps so I suggest getting a balcony or suite so you and DH can relax during nap time instead of tiptoeing around a sleeping baby.

Re: Cruise with a 2 year old?
We are in the midst of booking a 5 day Disney cruise for November. Our DS will be 14 months. I agree with PP. We are booking a balcony so that when DS is napping and asleep, we can hang out on the balcony and have our own space.
I was also a lil concerned about the no pool thing, which is why I am booking on the Disney Dream because they have a splash area for the little ones.
I don't think you are crazy for booking a cruise, just educate yourself on the daycare (if you plan on using it), the pools, excursions, the room, etc.

Re: Cruise with a 2 year old?
We brought a 1 yr old and a 2.5 year old on a cruise, we had a great time. We brought a stroller that they could both sleep in. After dinner, we'd bring them back to the room, get them in their pjs and either let them fall asleep in bed and transfer them back to the stroller, or walk around with them in the stroller so they'd fall asleep. We saw all the shows with them asleep in the stroller. They were pooped from being outside all day anyway, it wasn't difficult to get them to sleep.
The only thing that stunk was that we couldn't do excursions because we didn't have car seats for them, but we did to a catamaran ride with them that they loved.

We have a one and 2.5 year old and will be doing the Bahamas stop at Florida cruise in April. Can't wait!
Went on a cruise with the older kid... When he was 8 months and had a blast.
I never had issues with car seats. Were you told you couldn't do excursions, or did you chose not to because of carseats?

We just chose not to because of the places we went to, the kids wouldn't have been secure at all. We did the excursion of the boat ride bc we walked to the boat waiting down the pier. Even that was not listed as kid friendly. The ship we were on had to get permission from the captain of the catamaran to allow our kids on it. (It just wasn't listed that kids were allowed, if they told us no kids, we would have obviously been ok with it).

Cruise with a 2 year old?
I'm really nervous about doing a cruise because I have never been and don't know if there will be enough to keep DD occupied. She would be 26 months old at the time. I believe children have to be 3 to join the children's program. Anyone been on the Norwegian Gem with kids?

Ok! I was getting nervous!!! I took my kid on buses for short trips. Was hoping nothing changed.
As for the OP:
I find that at 2.5 years old, I can take DS with me for all things. Your DC can go to pool, eat, explore ship. With the shows and ports, parties, and pool, there won't be too much time without activities!

We were on the Norwegian Dawn the day after DD turned 2. At that point, camp started at 2, but I believe that has since changed to 3. She went for an hour or two in the morning, and then again in the evening so DH & I could eat dinner.
We did the Bermuda cruise so we were docked for 3 days and there was a lovely beach at the dock, so not being able to use the pool wasn't a big deal at all.
