Cruisers-private dining or no?
It is funny to me how you would expect to rather have private dining, but by the end of the cruise I am soooooo glad that we shared the week with strangers. The three different cruises I took, we had 3 great groups of people at each table.
Do you request a private table? DH always wants to, but then we are so glad we didn't.

Re: Cruisers-private dining or no?
Any cruise I have taken, I have sat with people.. and as you said, it has wound up being the best decision , because dinner is soo much fun that way!
On our honeymoon cruise we sat with a bunch of other honeymooners and it was a blast.. we had THE BEST TIME at dinner, it was like a 3 hour drunken event .. but soooo much fun, totally worth it
There is plenty of time to be one one one with my DH, but it was nice to be in a festive group for the dinners, since they are what cruises are known for!

I feel the same, the stories and laughs we have with the strangers went on for hours.

I like sitting with other couples. We usually ate lunch alone anyway at the buffets... but the dinner was fun to eat with people and make friends.

Re: Cruisers-private dining or no?
we used to eat with others until one trip a number of years ago with my family we ended up at a table on a sold out cruise with this other family. It was a guy my age who was traveling with his father and his father's girlfriend who the guy hated. They sat there and fought about everything under the sun all week. Because the cruise was sold out they were unable to move us to another table.
Since then we get out own table. DH and I really like this - we have quiet romantic dinners - but we often eat in the dining room for lunch so we ask to sit with others then. We also meet people in the bars, and on excursions - so it is kind of a best of both worlds.
Sitting with others can be really fun IF you get a good table if not watch out.

Hm, I'm not sure about that. I would prefer to eat alone, I can be painfully shy. But maybe forced interaction would help me with that.
