Just wondering what your Blue & Gold Dinner is like. I have heard about elaborate catered affairs with tons of give aways to its an extended Pack Night with pizza.

Do you have it catered
Do you pay to attend
Is there a DJ or other hired entertainment
Do you have the Order of the Arrow Ceremonial troop perform the Arrow of Light ceremony
Do the scouts receive goody bags or take away other items

To answer my own post
We do have ours catered at a local American Legion
We charge adults and sibs over 6yo
We sometimes have a low cost DJ this year we found a local HS kid
We always have the OA ceremony the scouts love it
Scouts receive a blue & gold patch maybe a DJ give away
We do a few Fundraisers and raffle baskets with items donated by our scout families to help cover the cost.

Do you pay to attend: Yes

Is there a DJ or other hired entertainment: No

Do you have the Order of the Arrow : Yes, I believe that was just done for the WEBELOS II who were crossing over

Ceremonial troop perform the Arrow of Light ceremony: Not sure what this is, I thought it was the same as above

Do the scouts receive goody bags or take away other items: Yes, they got some things to play with after cake (top hats, plastic guitars, ect.) Plus each scout got a arrow necklace.

Do you have it catered? Depends on the event/venue. Webelos typically run the event and coose theme, location, event. etc. One year it was buffet food from different ethnic groups (Olympic themed event where each den represented a country so food was catered to match countries). Next year was a BBQ at Wantagh Park where we BBQ'ed and some families supplied additional food items. No clue what they are doing this year yet.

Do you pay to attend? Yes, Scouts are free but parents and siblings pay (typically around $10pp - depends one event/venue/activities/etc.

Is there a DJ or other hired entertainment? Depends on event. At BBQ - we had cotton candy and bouncy slide.

Do you have the Order of the Arrow Ceremonial troop perform the Arrow of Light ceremony We do Arrow of Light Ceremony at our January Pack Night. Blue and Gold is typically later in year March/April/May. Not sure what Order of the Arrow Ceremonial is.

Do the scouts receive goody bags or take away other items/ Not that I recall. One year we had raffles for goodie baskets. Each den supplied a basket to be raffled off.

Do you have it catered - we have ours at a catering hall with a buffet

Do you pay to attend - scouts are free, adults are $31 and I think children are $17

Is there a DJ or other hired entertainment - we always have Mad Science do a one hour show

Do you have the Order of the Arrow Ceremonial troop perform the Arrow of Light ceremony - yes

Do the scouts receive goody bags or take away other items - the pack provides a craft for each scout and den leaders usually bring something for their den

We do a lunch and it is catered and at the local firehouse.

We pay 16 for adults and the scouts are free. Other kids are something but not sure what.

They don't have a dj

I can't remember about the arrow of light, we only went to one so far.

There are some things that go along with the theme on the table for each kid to take home, nothing that elaborate but it is something.

Re: Cub Scout Parents Blue & gold dinner

This is my first (and last, since DS is graduating to Boy Scouts this year) year as Cub Master, so I'm changing some things around this year. Not a lot, but we're trying some new things.

We're having it at the Baiting Hollow Scout Camp this year.

Do you have it catered - yes, by the camp
Do you pay to attend - yes. $18/adult, $11/child (scout or sibling)
Is there a DJ or other hired entertainment - not this year. We did other years, but we're going to try it without a DJ this year.
Do you have the Order of the Arrow Ceremonial troop perform the Arrow of Light ceremony - no, we do have a ceremony, but not with an OofA troop.
Do the scouts receive goody bags or take away other items- yes, we usually have some goodies for the kids.
