Cupcake Frosting Recipes?

I'm so clueless

I'm an absolute newbie at making frosting from scratch (please I only just learned that you need to stir the cans of whipped frosting recently ). I'm trying to look for recipes online but they get into all these different types and I'm just sitting here going .

For now I'm looking for a 'white' frosting recipe (mainly so I can turn it anything but white ) and a chocolate frosting recipe. Preferably ones that are easy to frost with too (see above comment about whipped frosting) - I am totally willing to try a bag and tips though; Santa put one in my stocking this year.

If you have a frosting that you love, or can recommend a type of frosting for cupcakes, or have a site that you like, please share!

I'm more into candy making than cupcakes; BUT I did make this recipe and topped devil's food cupcakes filled with Nutella. It was yummy!

The Magnolia bakery recipe for frosting is super easy, google it, its just butter, milk, vanilla and powdered sugar.

I always find Wilton's Buttercream recipe to be delicious, classic, and best of all- EASY. Super easy, in fact.

Also, just tried out this Vanilla Bean recipe and it is amazing. Another really easy recipe and this tastes exactly like vanilla ice cream. It's amazeballs. Don't be intimidated by the fact that it calls for fresh vanilla beans either- it was actually really easy and kinda fun beaning them! lol!

Also, I don't know what you're frosting, but don't use royal icing directly on a cupcake or cake. Royal icing is great for making designs to store and use on your cakes later since they harden or to decorate cookies with.
