Cupcake wars?
My job is having a cupcake contest and my coworker volunteered me. I found a recipe for Carmel frappachino cupcake but I'm worried that's only geared towards those that like coffee. Anyone have a great suggestion or recipe? It's based on taste, presentation and originality. Thanks!

Re: Cupcake wars?
Don't have a recipe in mind, but I would look on Pinterest! I see so many great baking ideas on there, and so many different flavor combinations. If I weren't trying to eat healthier, I would be trying out new baking recipes all the time.
I saw one cupcake that was supposed to look like a mug of hot chocolate (with marshmellow topping and a peppermint stick straw). So cute for winter!
Maybe you can find a summer themed cupcake?

Re: Cupcake wars?
I agree with the PP. I'm so not a baker but on any given day I log onto Pinterest, people I have followed have tagged pages and pages of different cupcakes.
I like the idea of doing something summer related, or even related to your job if you could tie that in somehow. Maybe a cupcake related to some kind of office inside-joke? (Although this could be hit or miss too).

Re: Cupcake wars?
I think caramel frapp is a pretty safe recipe- it's not very coffee-y, KWIM? But then again, I love anything with caramel! Plus, you could make it really cute with the Starbucks wrapper and a green straw.
My favorite cupcake recipe is an Oreo cookie cupcake. We use Hershey's chocolate cake recipe and line the bottom of the cupcake wrappers with a double stuffed Oreo cookie and then make an icing that tastes just like Oreo cookie cream. It's soooo good and you have no idea how many people are surprised and delighted to find an Oreo in their cupcake. You can top it with Oreo crumbs or mini oreos for nice look.
Another one we've had people RAVE about is Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cupcakes. Bizarre, I know, but people LOVED them.
You can also check out my pinterest board. I have about a bajillion recipes (not just cupcakes, but TONs of them, too) that I've tried or want to try.
ETA: OH! My other favorite are Martha Stewart's s'more cupcakes. OMG! These were amazing and since you toast the icing, they look cool. You can add in a graham cracker square and chocolate shavings on top to make it look prettier, too.
Martha Stewart S'More Cupcakes
ETAA: Since the icing on the s'more cupcakes is a meringue, it pipes SOOO beautifully.
