Curious Question About Your Vote

For those of you who have decided which candidate they will vote for in November - how much research did you do and where did the research come from?

You don't have to share who you are voting for - I am just curious as to the work that goes into most people's process when choosing the next American President.

The question arises because of some interesting conversations I have had and have overheard with regard to the process of choosing who to vote for.

One guy actually said he is choosing McCain because his church told him he must - or he is risking his soul! A friend of mine actually implied she is choosing Obama because Oprah is a good person.

Kind of a mix of two. I usually vote democrat b/c those are the views I am more sided with, but I DO watch the news, specials on the candidates, check some other resources etc, discuss with family, etc. to get some more information on the other candidates, too. I will admit, however, half the time, I don't know the other names on the ballot aside from Nader. Chat Icon

Re: Curious Question About Your Vote

I read the candidate's websites, follow the news on their positions (this is a mix of print and TV though I don't put much stock in TV), and look at factcheck.org when both sides are making contradictory statements. Given all of this, my choice is Obama. The big final factor for me was McCain's choice of Palin. I don't agree with her position on the issues, and her lack of knowledge about the U.S. and the world outside Alaska is scary.

Scarier still are the statements you overheard, but unfortunately, I think many voters make their choices based upon pretty irrelevant things and what others tell them to do.
