question only a man could ask...and I could be curious enough about to ask here.
my dh frequents a chat board made up of enthusiasts of our make/model car.
men are yentas at times (as much as they loathe to admit ) and sometimes ask questions that blow my mind....so here goes
This guy just started dating a girl and meeting her friends. ALL of her friends are overweight (or, as he put it, fat-though I don't know what his interpretation of that is)
so his question to the other guys was...Does it mean anything when a thin/fit girl has ALL "fat/chubby" friends?
Since I don't catergorize my friends, I have no idea.
so, does it? do you think a woman would SEEK out a particular kind of friend?

"men are yentas"... I love it.
Whenever DH has a question he tells me to go ask the "yentas" on here

That *could* mean three things...
Either in her eyes, weight is not an issue for determining friendship or She wants to make herself look good by having friends who are heavier than her or It's just a coincidence.
ETA: I doubt there is any real reasoning behind it

Re: question only a man could ask...and I could be curious enough about to ask here.
I wouldnt think there is any meaning to it. It would be the same thing as a bunch of thin girls with one heavy friend. Why does the heavy friend have all thin friends?
There is no theory around it. They are probably very good friends and just happen to be a little overweight.

I agree with Janie...I think it depends on the esteem of the friends and the girl.
anyway, the guys had interesting responses...
one:
it means she was fat, and will be fat again in the future.

this is too funny. So if she was thin does that guarantee that she will stay thin?
and...what about him?

I don't know the answer, but I do know that men always notice things like this that are completely irrelevant.
My BIL who is a major **** once said to me, "Alicia, none of your friends are cute"....he was like totally perplexed that I would possibly hang out with anyone less than what he considered to be "hot".

Only a selfish, idiotic, stupid woman would befriend a "fat" woman solely to feel better about herself as a thin woman.

Re: question only a man could ask...and I could be curious enough about to ask here.
This reminds me of a guy friend I had years ago in college who, while liking to look at bigger chests, refused to date any girl with a big chest because no matter how thin they were at the time, sooner or later they would get to be overweight and their chest gave them away.
Some men's reasoning are soo absurd.

i'm sure they exist; it's just sad. choosing friends based on looks? fat, thin, blue or black!

men can be so stupid at times. I'm overweight and I have friends in all sizes bigger and smaller. They aren't my friends because of how they look.

but that's not really the question...it's not why you are HER friend, but why SHE is your friend, KWIM?
I think this guy is probably just a d1ckwad, but you never know.

Re: question only a man could ask...and I could be curious enough about to ask here.
I have friends of all shapes and sizes, but I also have to say that I've had most of my friends since we were in junior high / high school.
We've all changed so much since then. Some are bigger some smaller and I've noticed that we all sort of took on the same body type as our husbands. DH works out a lot so now I do too, KWIM?
But I think it's harder to make friends as an adult so if I got along with someone I wouldn't not be their friend because of body type.
And I agree that men do notice the most irrelevant things sometimes.

Re: question only a man could ask...and I could be curious enough about to ask here.
There are definitely women out there who do this—a girl in my dorm was one of them. All and I mean ALL her friends were obese, you couldn't help but notice it, it was like she went around recruiting. One drunken night I called her out on it and she totally admitted it made her feel good to be surrounded by these women. Definitely a girl with self-esteem issues! And she was stick thin! LOSER.
