Curley Hair Girls...

Just wondering what hair products you use.

I have been using the same stuff since Junior High -- anything else that I try leaves me super frizzy....

I use tresemme (sp?) mousse...in the past I have used clairol 123...nothing super expensive for me. My hair is rarely frizzy, only in the bad weather really.

But Ive seen pics of you and your hair doesnt seem frizzy to me!

Re: Curley Hair Girls...

I use Ouidad, and I also like Curls Rock (TiGi Catwalk). I use the whole line. It's good for hair that's a little thicker and not thin - it texturizes it. It makes your hair a little bit crunchy but that's the texturizing Chat Icon .

Re: Curley Hair Girls...

I've been using the Pantene Curly conditioner

I also use a curl serum, don't remember the name though, but it's not an expensive one.
Then any type of gel, work it through, spray with hairspray THEN blow upside down.....more spray after....

Re: Curley Hair Girls...

Since I didn't post what I do...

I don't use any fancy shampoo/conditioner. Actually sometimes Suave will even do...

For my hair I use Loriel Springing Curles Moouse and then Loriel Mega Gel....

I think the problem is that if I don't work it through good enough I miss spots and those frizz...

I wish I could have hold without the crunch though....

Re: Curley Hair Girls...

I have REALLY curly hair, but it's soft - so all of that "made for curly hair' stuff doesn't seem to work -
I usually use an inexpensive serum (believe it or not, Citri Shine is my favorite) and mix it w/ a leave in conditioner (Devo Curl is the best - but crazy $$$$)
Then I either use a mousse and finish off w/ a TINY bit of Nexus gel - Or just use the gel -
All of those 'creme' things don't seem to work for me either .......

And if I have time and want the curls to look really good, I use the diffuser, otherwise, I just air dry.

You can have the hold w/o the crunch -
Do you ever use a diffuser ??
Also, I find if I use too much gel I end up w/ crunchy curls .........

Re: Curley Hair Girls...

Do you let your hair air-dry? When I have time I'll do that - my hair comes out much curlier. Also, to get rid of the crunchiness, just diffuse it dry the rest of the way while scrunching with your hands (don't scrunch when your hair is totally wet - it messes up the curl and makes frizz!)

I only air-dry. I haven't tried to blowdry or diffuse since HS and back then it just made it worse....

Then it sounds like you need a product that's a little more heavy-duty. I really like Ouidad's gel. They have one for frizz control (I think it's just called Climate Control gel). Ouidad's gels are a little more liquidy than regular gel so you don't get the crunch.

I have finally accepted my curls... this is what work best for me... first take a paper towel get rid of some of the moisture.. then put in your mousse any kind will do them when it is dry i put a drop of that sunsilk stuff..and also DO NOT KEEP SCRUNCHING IT.. It really works for me my curl is more of a big bouncy one rather than tiny tight curls.

Re: Curley Hair Girls...

I see you already air dry and that helps cutting down the frizzies.

I squeeze out the excess moisture, comb through my hair and put a ton of mousse in. As the day goes on I "fluff" up my hair with my hands from underneath. With minimal touching, I am trying to decrease the crunchies.

What a process!

Re: Curley Hair Girls...

Since I have wavy hair, not curly, I need alot of hold so I use gel and a bit of mousse and some scrunch spray on rainy/humid days.

But after I wash my hair, I towel dry it as much as I can then put some Frizz-esse hair serum and Pantene moose/gel and let it air dry. - AND try not to touch it too much, because that makes it frizzy too.

I have a strange way of drying my hair, but if I have the time I would lay on my bed and hang my hair off the side so it air drys -- that way without anything touching it - I know weird rightChat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Curley Hair Girls...

The Devo line is great
Their shampoo is "No Poo" or "Low Poo" - (no lather, hard to get used to b/c I felt like my hair wasn't getting clean, but it's AWESOME when it comes to controlling frizz)
I use the shampoo/conditioner and leave in conditioner .........
I haven't tried any of the styling products though .......anyone have any experience w/ them ??
