"custom" framing
I bought a vintage poster and its a weird size, so I have to get it framed.
I took it to Michaels thinking it would be cheap - but it turned out to be pretty expensive.
Does any one have some suggestions on where I can go for framing? Michaels is probably the lowest, but I thought I would ask you guys.

I used michael's for an art piece I got in London during a visit. I went to the store when I had a 50% coupon - check the Sunday paper for one as they usually have one each week.
Or try AC Moore.

You can try a framing store...there is one on Sunrise Highway in Sayville but I bet they will be more expensive than Michaels!
You can buy the framing supplies yourself and try and make a frame. Its really not that hard.

Michaels or ACMoore's is probably the cheapest. Look for a 50% of total framing order, not just the frame. It can be a big difference in price.

Re: "custom" framing
I know in Target they sell frames in all different sizes and some have mats you can place the poster behind or on top of to make it look "custom framed". I did this once for DH and he thought I had the poster custom framed.
Good luck!

Re: "custom" framing
I used one of the art stores in the mall. The ones that sell framed and unframed wall art.
They had a huge selection of frames and borders and they were pretty helpful in picking out styles that matched.
We've used them for posters, and I even had my sister's wedding invitation framed as a gift, and it came out great.
I was happy with the work, so the price was worth it, but then again, I didn't price around.

Re: "custom" framing
I recently ordered something from framesbymail.com and I am pleased with the product. You just need to know the dimensions of your print and then you select the type of frame you want.
