Cutting your own Christmas tree
We've never cut our own tree. Is it generally more expensive than getting a tree at Home Depot/Nursery? We usually get a 7-8ft tree for about $40-$50.
I'd love the experience of cutting our own tree but DH isn't sold on the idea. If it's more expensive to cut one then I'll never get him on board.
If you've done this, where do you go?

Re: Cutting your own Christmas tree
It's been a tradition in my family since I was little. We always went to the North Fork of LI bc there are tons of farms.
Dh & I now do.it with our boys but go to a place out east. I can't remember the name that's s flat rate, I think $40 tor any size tree. It is definitely fun but hard to.find trees in the woods but to.us that puts us in the christmas spirit. Plus the smell of a fresh cut tree is like no other.

Re: Cutting your own Christmas tree
We do it every year and its way cheaper. We got to Lewins farm its $30 for any tree. They take you on a tractor and drop you in a field and you look for a tree. WHen you find a tree you cut it down, either with a hand saw or a chain saw. We always bring a chain saw. Than you drag tree back up to the road and wait for the tracker to pick you and your tree up. I like it because its a fun experience and the tree last much longer because its freshly cut.

Cutting your own Christmas tree
It's about the same. We go to Grandpa Tony's in Manorville. I think it's about $40. My parents and our family have made a tradition out of it. We cut down our trees then hit the diner for breakfast. We look forward to it every year.

Re: Cutting your own Christmas tree
def cheaper...we have always gotten a real tree from home depot...but the last 3-4 yrs we cut it down the Friday after Thanksgiving and it is still in GREAT shape through CHristmas...
and it is A LOT cheaper...$30-40 any size!
I forget the name of the place we go to but it is about 5 miles east on Sound Ave once you make a right onto it off the LIE out on the North Fork...Great selection..a lot of fun for the kids and def gets our holiday spirit going!
