Cyst on baby's lung, please, please come in....
My best friend just came back from her Level II and the sonogram showed a cyst on one of the baby's lungs. They were very concerned and said that if it keeps growing, it can crush the baby's heart. They want to monitor it over the next couple of weeks and if the baby is still alive and it doesn't shrink, they will do in utero surgery to remove it. She is terrified. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm sick to my stomach over this

that's so scary... i have no advice but i think it's amazing that they can do in utero surgery. i hope it shrinks on it's own

OMG how scary..no i dont have any experience with this but you have to have faith in modern medicine. My prayers are with her

well when my mom was pregnant with my sister they found a cyst on her head. They told her it was a sign of trisommy or an even worse, extremely rare genetic condition. They actually wanted her to abort the baby. She said absolutely not, called the pediatrician and he told her the odds of you getting hit by a bus are better than the baby having this disorder.
Well, my sister is absolutely perfect adn to this day has never had any complications (she is now 14 years old)
Every case is different. Maybe she can get a second opinion?

Oh i am so sad reading this. Your poor friend and that poor little baby. Im praying that it shrinks or theres a successful in utero surgery

Thanks, ladies. Please keep the prayers coming.
I just spoke with her and they were referred to a specialist in Philadelphia, I believe, and they looked up the doctor and he has had 100% success rate dealing with babies and cysts in utero when found around her gestational age. So, I'm glad that she's found some peace in that information for now. Knowing that she feels a little better tonight is surely bringing me some peace. But I will continue to pray with all my heart. This is my best friend I have ever had and I would do anything for her, and the least I can do is ask some strangers for continued prayers. It means the world to me

i know you dont want to hear this but my friend had a similar thing happen and she was 20 weeks. the found that the cyst pushed out one side of the heart chamber and the organs were not forming properly she had to get a d and c 2 weeks later since the babies organs werent functioning properly. she had a choice of d and c or natural birth and she already had 2 healthy children and couldnt do it natural. i hope your friends baby is ok. i think my friends case was extreme since the 20 week showed the heart wasnt forming properly. how far along is she? did she get her 20 week yet?

When my girlfriend was pregnant with her DD they found a cyst on her brain at the Level II. I know it's a little different but everything turned out to be just fine and she born happy and healthy with no complications. The cyst just went away on its own before she was born. Hopefully the same thing happens with your friends baby.
