D&C - post op. appt
What should I expect to happen at my post op. appt ? Did they give you an internal exam? Internal sono ? I have mine tomorrow and I'm curious. TIA

i had an internal exam done and that was it... i thought they would at least take blood but they didnt.

I had an internal exam and an internal sono.
My friend who is an L&D nurse and close with a lot of OBs told me they probably didn't bother taking blood because they already knew everything was out since I had the D&C - if it had been natural they might have wanted to check to see that my hormone levels were coming down to confirm that my body wasn't retaining anything.
Edited to say that the internal sono was hard for me to look at. I know it was "good news" that my uterus was empty and back to normal - meaning the D&C was a success - but it broke my heart all over again to see the nothingness on the screen...

Thanks girls. Not looking fwd to an internal exam  . Tomm will be 1 week and 3 days since the d&c. I would have waited longer to go in but my doc is away for 2 weeks and I need some questions answered now.

I went in at exactly one week after because my bleeding had started up again after tapering off. Turned out it was normal and that was the last of the bleeding anyway, but she said we may as well check everything now, and then there was no need to come back. Originally I was going to go two weeks after.

Mine was two weeks after the D&C. I had an internal exam and bloodwork done, no sono. I actually had to go back a week later to have more blood drawn b/c my numbers weren't totally down after the D&C and he wanted to make sure they went all the way down. However, even after I had a sonogram that showed my pregnancy wasn't progressing, my numbers kept going up which surprised the doctor. My body wasn't recognizing that it was a bad pregnancy-the baby stopped developing at week 5 and I didn't find out until week 9 and the numbers continued to go up through week 10. Not sure how unusual that is though.
