Daily daytime and nighttime routine
Can anyone share how they go or did go about their day with their newborn?
So far it seems like I feed him every 2 hours and then most of the time he falls asleep until the next feeding. He naps mostly in his bouncer, sometimes in his crib, doesn't really like it I guess, just mostly his bouncer.
What does everyone do/did as far as when it came to nighttime? Did you just do the same thing you did all day, just repeat it? Is there something special I need to be doing besides feeding Connor and trying to get him to sleep in his bassinet or crib?
I am so worried about him following in his brother's footsteps so I'm just trying to see if there is something I should be doing this time around that I didn't do with Caiden. Caiden was such a horrible sleeper for the entire first year. It's just starting to get better.
Thanks!

Re: Daily daytime and nighttime routine
The first 6 weeks I nursed. I nursed him from 5am until 8 or 9pm and then he had 2-3 bottles durning the night. He nursed every 1.5 to 2 hours. He never really took long naps, the most was about 30-40 minutes. I was always peppy and would talk to him durning the day. Once it was time for bed I wouldnt look at him when I was feeding him and I wouldnt talk and I never put a night light on. It was the same way when he woke up and I think that really helped establish his days and nights. Once he got to about 2-3 weeks old he would stay up a little more at a time and wanted to interact more. My SIL had a hard time with her first as far as sleeping and with her second her doctor told her to put my neice down right after she ate and sometimes she would fall asleep other times she would look around and she was content and never need to be held constantly. That might be something to consider also.

Re: Daily daytime and nighttime routine
My DD is 5 1/2 weeks old and I don't think there is a set routine yet, but I do try to show her the difference between day and night. During the day she eats every 3 hours and then I try to keep her up (even if it's for 20mins) for a little activity time before she naps. I feed her in the living room and we talk a lot during feedings. At night my routine is bath, bottle, bed. Once she is in for the night she doesn't come back out of the nursery and there is no activity time after eating. She still gets up twice a night but I don't talk to her and I don't turn on the light. I feed her and swaddle then right back to bed. It's doesn't always work, but I'm trying to be consistent.
