growing out of their nighttime routine?
For all these months I had a wonderful night time routine that worked great for all of us. Now Talia seems to be fed up with it. She wants to be crawling/cruising around, playing, and reading...everything but eating and relaxing.
So for the moms with Toddlers - how do your nights go? What is the best way to mellow them out before bed or indicate to them it is bedtime?

Re: growing out of their nighttime routine?
We are having the same problem and while I don't have any suggestions I do have to say that it SUX!!!
I think that for us part of the problem is that it's summer and we've been having very busy days -- lots of swimming, visiting people -- BBQs and she's not used to it. When I was working during the school year the routine was the same each day and her naps didn't change either -- now it is all changing and it is throwing her all off!!

I read about 3-4 books before bedtime in the glider. He RARELY falls asleep when I put him in his crib (I read another book while he's in the crib). He has a few toys and blocks in his crib and I hear him playing with them (in the dark) on the monitor until he falls asleep.

Emily sings to herself in her sleep. I know that she hugs her baby girl that she has and plays with the flower in her hair because we've seen her do that --- but it is so funny because she sings to herself. It is like long notes of high pitched humming.
It's funny how they have thier own little "techniques" to help themselves fall esleep.

Its miserable here. My baby who used to put herself to sleep now screams the second we walk in her room with her so every night its pretty much a battle to get her to settle down to sleep. I've tried reading to her, bath, rocking, etc. Nothing seems to make a difference and she's not teething or even crawling yet. God help me if it gets worse. I have to say she eats like a bird now and this past week is only taking about 15oz of formula a day. I'm going to put a call into the ped tomorrow since she's underweight already.
