dairy question
I'm confused - I thought until a year, babies weren't supposed to have any milk or dairy. I'm pretty sure the milk is right but what about other dairy - cheese, yogurt (I see others giving it), etc. My DD is 8 1/2 months old & I have avoided everything like this. Please give me some feedback. Thanks.

Re: dairy question
Someone posted a very helpful website the other in understanding the whole dairy thing. The basic premise was that dairy products have already gone through some processing that breaks down some of the ingredients while whole milk hasn't. So yogurts and cheeses are okay before the age of one.

Re: dairy question
I asked my ped that very question no whole milk til 1 year but cheeses and yogurt are fine why?
he said that the enzyme's/cultures in cheeses and yogurt partially break down the milk protein-they change it's form and that's it's okay to give baby and that also milk doesn't have the nutrients and vitamins babies under 1 years old Need for development=only formula can do that.

Re: dairy question
I believe they can have dairy, but it's recommended babies stay on breastmilk/formula until they are a year to gain the other vitamins/nutrients that milk doesn't have. But you can definitely give cheese, yogurt, etc prior to a year.
