This happened to my mom and my friend. For one of them it dryed out and worked, the other it didn't.
You might have insurance...sorry that stinks!

I am going to leave it by the window & hope it dries out. I am entitled to a new phone right now anyway but I am so annoyed b/c I am home with the baby alone & this is my only phone until DH comes home. I told him we needed a land line!

He's already left work but I just FB messaged my MIL & SIL & asked them to call him to let him know that I am a clutz. I know, It's scary not having a land line.

Re: dammit... I dropped my cell into the toilet..
Take the battery out and let it dry out at least overnight. Hopefully once it dries out, it will work.
And lay off talking on the cell phone in the john! (JK)

Re: dammit... I dropped my cell into the toilet..
My daughter dropped my iphone in the toilet a few weeks ago.
Unfortunately I fried one of my buttons by trying to turn it on immediately (a hard to resist "no-no") after being submerged, but I was able to salvage all my contacts, vids/photos by drying it out.
You can try and dry it out with silica gel which can be purchased at Home Depot in the paint department. I bought a tub and placed it into a covered plastic shoe box/container with the open container of silica gel beads. (I opened my iPhone to help with the drying, but I would recommend that to most people with an iphone or regular cell phone unless you're willing to take the risk.)
I ultimately ended up buying a new iphone because of the damage I did to it by pushing my home button.

Re: dammit... I dropped my cell into the toilet..
Well, the best advise was given to you. Take out the battery IMMEDIATELY and don't put it back in for about 24 hours. You want to make sure the phone is completely dried out before you try to send power through it.
Unfortunately, if you already tried to turn it on after it fell in the water, you may have already fried it. But leave it alone for a day with the battery out and maybe it will come back to you.

I've also heard something about putting it in rice to absorb the liquid in it

Re: dammit... I dropped my cell into the toilet..
DON'T TURN IT ON!!!
Put it in a ziplock bag with rice and leave it alone for a few days.
I dropped my iTouch in the toilet and I called Apple and that's what he told me to do.
About 3 days of it in the rice, it's working perfectly!!!

Re: dammit... I dropped my cell into the toilet..
My husband did that. He took it apart- took the battery out etc- and let it dry out in our laundry room- where it's hot and dry.
I also saw something on You Tube once about drying it out in rice- google that- there should be a video on it.

My insurance doesn't cover the phone for water damage so you should double check yours if you have it.

It wasn't that bad, actually.
It brought me back to a more simple time!
When I would go places and needed one I borrowed DH's. And we just made it work.
Initially, we waited to see if the phone would dry out (week one). After that, we figured it was dead for good and we needed a new one. So, we were trying to scrape together extra money because when you are not due for a new phone (mine was new when it was washed!) or if you are not signing up when you get the phone they can be SO expensive. Two weeks went by and I was just about to go shopping for a new one when DH said, just try it. I tried to put it on and it worked!
Even had my addy book and pictures saved - everything!
It has been about two years now since that and everything's fine!
That being said, LG makes one heck of a phone!
