Dance recital question....what would you do?
Dd's dance recital is next week. She is in act 5 of a 39 act show 
I know you are supposed to stay for the whole thing, and every kid deserves a full audience, but I really want to skip out at intermission. She is in the 4pm show, which means it ends at 7:30 or 8. Our family is all going out to dinner after, there are small children, and dd is only 5.
Last year I planned to stay but the air conditioning was broken, so we left. If she was in the 12 show I'd stay. What would you do?

My daughter's recital is on Sat night and it starts at 7:30. She is number 10 in the first act with at least 10 more behind her. We always leave at intermission. In fact it is pretty much anticipated all the parents of little ones will leave at intermission. Horrible i know but we would not be out until 9:30ish and I am sorry that is too late for my daughter.
If you have to go, you have to go. They are still too young for that long.

I wouldn't stay. Last time we couldn't get our kids because they're in the final number but if I had a choice....definitely.
It's completely feasible that you'd have two things in one day to go to on a Sunday.

I would leave for sure. I HAVE left DD's past 3 recitals. She has never made it to the Finale. This will be the first year we stay b/c she is in 3 dances spaced throughout the show.

I know what you mean..I always feel bad leaving too...but I do. I usually stay and watch some more after DD performs and than we leave. When shes a bit older (She is also 5) Ill probably stay. Its a long day for them though at this point!

I totally agree with this....and if I would also expect parents of the little ones to leave.

Thank you all for making me feel better! I am going to leave. Now....how do I bust her out from backstage? That is the question, they keep them hidden back there!
