Ever wonder what it would feel like if you were living in "The World You Dreamed of Lately"? Singer/songwriter Daniel Powter should know -- his song "Bad Day" has become an international sensation and his self-titled debut album has exploded up the charts. It's a dream come true for any musician. And now Daniel has put his dreams into music with a new song written especially for Disney Parks, the place where dreams come true. According to Daniel, creating the song "The World You Dreamed of Lately" has itself been a dream come true.

When Disney invited Daniel to create a song for Disney Parks, he didn't have to think twice. He'd loved Disney since childhood -- "Every kid is a Disney fan, aren't they?" he laughs.

"When I was asked to do it, it felt like such a great thing to be involved with Disney," Daniel says. "I just liked the idea of that inspiring kind of song. It makes me feel like there's this place to escape to, and Disney really does represent that. It was so easy for me to be inspired by a dream and a place that's unlike where you normally are. And Disney is both things to me. I think that's why I wanted to be involved with it."

Perhaps that inspiration explains why the song, in Daniel's words, "just seemed to write itself." He explains, "Chris Montan, who does a lot of the music for Disney, came over to my house. We had been talking about writing the song, so I sat there and I played the piano for him. I was really nervous, because I really wanted to do it. I had about eight different song ideas -- and the first one I played, he looked at me and he said 'That's it.' There are so few of those moments I've had as a writer -- usually something isn't quite right, but this song just seemed to come right away. I think I wrote the whole song, with Chris, in a matter of a day."

The dream continued for Daniel -- and for many of his fans! -- with performances in recent months at Disney Parks around the world, from Disneyland Paris's 15th Anniversary to Walt Disney World and Disneyland for The Year of a Million Dreams celebration.

"It was amazing -- just the backdrop alone, the Castles," he enthuses. "Just the other day somebody showed me a picture of the performance -- I hadn't seen it yet. You just see this white keyboard stand and me in front of this enormous castle, and it's so beautiful."

The concerts also gave him a chance to face an old nemesis, and fulfill a longstanding Disney dream. "I can remember being about six years old and being too scared to go into the Haunted Mansion. So I sat on the bench outside and my whole family went in except for me and my father. I thought 'Oh gosh, I just can't -- this is too scary!' he laughs. "So I went back with my daughter to Disneyland this year, doing the song. And I thought 'I have to go back in there -- I have to get my pride back.' This time I finally went, and now my life is complete!"

Most of us will never perform in concert in front of Cinderella Castle, but that doesn't mean our own Disney dreams can't come to life. Right now, during The Year of a Million Dreams celebration, you have the chance to win an array of unique Disney experiences. One thing's certain -- a trip to the Disney Parks will be anything but a "Bad Day."
