Dare I post this...update
My hyperactive student had the most FANTASTIC day EVER! I rewarded him, told anyone and everyone who would listen and made a good news phone call to his mom!
God I hope this keeps up. This made my day so much easier!

YAY! positive reinforcement does wonders and i would also talk with him about what it was that he did that made his day great so that he can do it again if he can.
ETA: and perhaps the behaviors that you saw today are the ones you can reward

Re: Dare I post this...
I am so glad to hear this. Positive reinforcement is always the way to go I feel- especially with those types of kids.
Keep us updated!

I'm sorry, but I kinda knew this would happen. I had read your other post and said to myself, "What 'til tomorrow--he'll be back to his old self. Today is new for him."
Look, with kids like that, just expect two steps forward, one step forward. They are not consistent with acceptable behavior. Just celebrate the good days and expect the worse.
I do have a kid like that in my class. Maybe we can share strategies to help each other.

Re: Dare I post this...update
I found something that works well in my room. I use it as a bulliten board...its called "On track with good behavior" I use it class wide, since I only have 8 kids. They move around a race track when they demonstrate appropriate behavior...if not, they get a warning and go into the pit stop. If while in the pit stop they cont the disruptive behavior they go in the garage, and that looses them 5 minutes of chioce time....and the cycle continues about 4x a day....check it ou...with the little kids they love it
