daughters egg retrieval today
My daughter had her egg retrieval today with Dr.B. is her doctor. They were only able to get 7 out of 30 that he thought they would get. Two were not good right away 5 seemed ok. Dr. B. thinks she has poor egg quality. Did anyone ever get pregnant with so few eggs at retrieval? I just want to give her some hope, she is so sad. I aways follow you girls and just wonder on how supportive you are. your just the best!!

I haven't done IVF but just wanted to wish your daughter the very best. It's very hard to deal with new issues when they come up and I can only imagine her disappointment in thinking she had 30 eggs and getting 5. But tell her to remember, it only takes 1!

There are things that they might be able to do with supplements to improve her egg quality. You might want to go on www.fertilethoughts.com and ask your question there.

I've definitely seen people with that few eggs get pregnant. Hopefully those 5 are good quality. Please send your daughter over here, I KNOW there are girls on this board who got pregnant with like 3 eggs at retrieval. I just can't remember who they are

Please try to remain positive. It can happen with just one.
I know many folks who had two put back and had twins!
5 is pretty damn good. I got two last time and never made it to ER. We did an insemination which was negative but a few months later I got pregnant on my own. All it takes is one.
Even though mine ended in miscarriage it's still the point that the number may not mean so much.

i am starting the IVF process with mild egg quality issues, Dr. Braverman is having me take antioxidants that he really strongly believes it helps.. i pray that this cycle works for her, it only takes 1! stay positive !

I have seen it all and truthfully, 5 is pretty good. You always want more but you only need one good one. There is nothing for her to worry about. They will only put back 2 (most likely, depending on her age), so you really just want to hope her emby gets to 8 cell on day of transfer (and I've seen a 5 cell emby make it all the way).
Anything is possible.

Just wanted to say ditto to everything that the others already wrote! My girlfriend only got 3 eggs, they transfered 2 and she has a baby girl.
So, it's not the quantity, it's the quality of the ones you do get  I hope her wishes come true!  
I was taking natural supplements for the past 2 months recommended by Dr. Braverman. I'm sure it helped.

Thanks so much for all the good thoughts and wishes. It was so helpful to read about people who were so successful with few eggs. She is 24 and Dr. B. was so surprised to get such a poor response. But today he called her and told her all five eggs firtilized!!! So hopefully she will have at least 2 to put back on Friday. Thanks again for all the good wishes!!!

Great news
I had my ER in May and initially was disappointed that I only had 5 eggs retrieved. My doctor also was hoping that there would have been more.
4 out of the 5 fertilized and ultimately, I had 2 embryos to transfer. I did not have any to freeze.
I am now 11.5 weeks pg with one baby so like they say, it only takes one good one!!

A little update on my daughter
Dr. B. deceided to implant 3 fl. because its day 3 and he couldnt tell how the others would do. One was 8 and one was 5 and one was 3. Two he will wait until day 5 to decide about freezing. We just hope that at least one will stick. Anyway thanks again for the good wishes and I pray that all of you will have some good news soon.

update on my daughter
My daughter got the call from Dr. B while he was on vacation, and yes she is pregnant we are all so excited! She is going in for a second blood test tomorrow. She has been trying for 4 years. Its been such a difficult road. I just want to thank all of you for your recommendation of Dr. B. He is just the nicest kindest Dr. I wish all of you will success in the very near future.
