Day care in the Seaford/Wantagh/Massapequa area ?

Girls,

Sorry if this is a little long. I am already making myself anxious with the day care situation for our baby. I posted about this on the Parenting board awhile ago and got some ideas but so far nothing solid.

Does anyone have any info/opinions on day care centers in the Seaford area? My first option was Our Redeemer because it's literally a 2 minute drive from my house and very close to the train station. But, they never call me back! I have been calling for weeks and weeks, only to have messages taken and never get return calls. Needless to say I am very frustrated because it seemed the best option (assuming I liked the center).

Now I am trying to find some viable alternatives. I've been meaning to visit Teachers Pets in Wantagh (might go very soon). I called them yesterday and they said right now their infant room is full. I won't need them until the end of October/early November but I am scared already. There is a place called Little Rascals in Massapequa but it's closer to Amityville and so it's a bit further from my house than I would like. I see a place in Bellmore when I am on the train called Rose Garden but I know nothing about them and it's also a little more than I would like to drive. There is a Tutor Time opening on 107 very close to my house in September but I am nervous it's going to be packed with people and I am not really willing to put down a deposit now (that is $600 they told me) without even seeing the completed building or meeting the staff.

Any thoughts?? Both my husband and I work in Manhattan so I need something not too far from a train. I am freaking out already (perhaps prematurely, but everyone says "the earlier the better" with this stuff). I know I can just drive to another train station if I have to, but I'd like to avoid if possible. All this and trying to pick the "best" place is so nervewracking!

I live in Massapequa and commute to NYC - There is a Precious Kids in Massapequa on 107 that my friend is sending her DD to in the fall, there is another one in Merrick right next to the train station -

DH and I signed Baby K up for the new Tutor Time being built on 107 a block from the Massapequa train station -
It's supposed to open in July - but I've been in touch w/ the owners since January -

Ah so you went for the Tutor Time early? I am really wondering if this is the most sensical option for us. Location-wise it's perfect but I don't know much about TT's in general. I don't mind leaving a deposit because I know this is something all places expect - but to do so without knowing anything about the new building/staff seems a little daunting to me. If you don't mind my asking, is Baby K guaranteed a spot once they open or is it still a crap shoot?

It's the most convenient for us -
They will take him part time at 6 months (Mom taking a day and MIL taking a day) and they have early hours (6:30 drop off - most places don't open until 7:00 and I have to be on the 7:14 at the latest) .........
We visited the facility in Oakdale b/c it's owned and operated by the same couple who are building the Massapequa location - Oakdale was very nice, spotless, well organized, etc etc. -
Baby K has a spot reserved for October.
When we got back from the Oakdale visit I called the owner and asked her when I could send a check Chat Icon -
They recently sent me the paperwork of the prices and such - and said they'd send me the official registration paperwork when they begin in the late spring. -

Very cool - I spoke with someone at the Oakdale center for awhile on the phone last week and she also encouraged us to come visit them to see what the building will probably look like. I didn't know it's the same owners - so perhaps I will do that after all. The hours sound pretty good, too. She took my info and said they'd mail me something closer to when they plan the open house, etc. Maybe if we go visit Oakdale and like it, we can rethink this early sign-up thing. Oh I am so confused! Chat Icon But I appreciate the input! It's good to see someone on the boards who is going with them because otherwise it was a total hypothetical situation for me.
