Day Out with Thomas event
Has anyone does this? It looks like a 25 minute train ride and then some other activities, but I'm not sure if it's worth it for my 2 1/2 year old. She likes Thomas but if we're just riding a regular train that doesn't have Thomas' picture on it, I'd rather not spend the money. Thanks!

Re: Day Out with Thomas event
We decided to skip the Thomas Event and just go straight to the Strasburg Railroad, cheaper and less crowded
My DS loved it!!!!!!! And so did I. It was beautiful. The train ride was 45 mins long and we sat in the open air car. We also went across the street to the Railroad Museum was was great!!
It was such a great memory for us.
He was so excited when it started moving

Re: Day Out with Thomas event
We went on the 19th in Strasburg and my 18 1/2 month old loved it. Thomas is the main train and he has 8 cars attached, the ride was about 22 minutes long. I'll post some pictures tonight.

Re: Day Out with Thomas event
We went to the Thomas event in Stasburg last year when DS was 2 1/2 and again this past June 20th. It's great and he had a wonderful time each time. A life size Thomas pulls the train and the kids love watching him each time he goes by. The ride is only 25 minutes or so but it's fine. You can also do the regular Strasburg train. If your DC is under 3, they are free. We did it last year but skipped it this year because we'd have to pay for all 3 of us.
Not sure which event you are planning to go to or if they all have the same activities but at the Strasburg one, they have tents set up that have tons of activities for the kids. We spend the whole day there and DS has a great time.

Re: Day Out with Thomas event
We just did a Day Out with Thomas the 13th/14th of June, at the Strasburg RR Station in PA. DS, who is 22 months, LOVED IT! I think it was the highlight of his life thus far.

Re: Day Out with Thomas event
Thanks so much girls! This one is in Phillipsburg, NJ. It seems like they will have other activities. I hope so because $18 per person seemed a little expensive for a 25 minute train ride. But I think DD will like it. Can you go more than once on the train - or just one ride?

Re: Day Out with Thomas event
You can only go once, you buy a ticket for a specific ride time. You can take pics with Thomas after and then meet Sir Topham hat and take pics with him.

Re: Day Out with Thomas event
We are going to the Phillipsburg one this weekend. I think you only get one ride and I have been getting emails from them that some of the days are sold out so I would purchase tickets in advance. I will post a review after we go.

Yes we did......we did see the animals and he LOVED it, before he fell asleep on the train ride
The Strasburg RR museum, even aside from Thomas being there, was the best. DS LOVED it. The train rides, and especially the museum. They have like a giant hanger just filled iwth old restored and/or replica trains. He walked in, literally stopped in his tracks and went "Woooow"
While we were there, we made a weekend of it and also took him to Dutch Wonderland which he LOVED.

Re: Day Out with Thomas event
After seeing those pics, I can totally hear my son say "OH WOW"
I think I'll try the regular ride in August with him on our way home from PA - Philipsburgh is about his break point.
