Re: Day out with Thomas in PA - Any tips/recommendations
We went last year and we are going this June. We stay at the Best Western Eden Suites in Lancaster...mainly to have a small kitchen to use for my son. Very nice hotel. It's a long day at Thomas - very little shade so be prepared for that! Be prepared to park and take a school bus to the actual station. The railroad museum is across the street which is great. Also, we visited the choo choo barn which my son loved. There are plenty of fun things to do. We bring lunch and snacks and drinks for my son, although you don't have to. Be prepared for the giant tent full of Thomas crap!

We've been to Thomas a couple times now and just been on the Strasburg railroad a few times too.. It's so much fun!
Go to the train museum across the street (huge real trains inside - very cool!) RR Museum
Have lunch at the Red Caboose Motel and you can watch the trains/ and or Thomas go by ... you can also stay there which is a lot of fun.. certainly no first class accomodations, but the kids got a kick out of it... Red Caboose Motel
Plain & Fancy has really good dinner.. its family style, but fun... Plain & Fancy
Walk around Kitchen Kettle Village.. cute shops and you can watch the Amish jarring food and they have LOTs of samples Kitchen Kettle Village .... and yes you read that right its in Intercourse, PA

Willow Valley is about 10-15minutes away, the kids loved it. (they have a small indoor water park)

Thanks again.
We definitely need a suite type hotel with a kitchen becasue of DS's food allergies. I better start calling around soon.
