Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
What room is your 11 month old in (or was in) and how many naps did they take at daycare?
My twins were moved up and I am not happy with it - just wanting to see what the norm is.

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
they've moved up to the next room? Are they walking?
When Riley moved to the next room (toddler room) she was thrown straight into their routine of one nap a day, at 12. I'm not sure she was really ready for it, but she finally adjusted.

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
My DD is 13 months old, just started walking, and she is still in the infant room. She will be moving to the toddler room when she is 18 months old. They start transitioning her at around 16 months, taking her in to have snack for a couple of weeks, then for snack and a story for a couple of weeks, then 1/2 day until she goes in permanently.

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
AJ was moved up to infant B at 9 months. It goes to around 18 months give or take. He takes two naps a day in a crib. They all take a morning nap around 10 and an afternoon nap around 330-4. He could never survive on one nap at this point.
Once he moves to the toddler room he will transition to one nap a day.

Same here, except DD just moved into this room at 11.5 months.

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
DD moved up at 12 months. In the room she is in now they do one nap.
At 11 months she was still in the younger room and it was nap on demand.
(Not that it matters to us- DD RARELY naps a daycare. She is just too busy there to nap apparantly! )

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
When DS move up at 12 months, I was a wreck. How could he only nap once. He was going to be too tired and super cranky. Well he move up and the first week he was allowed to sleep on demand. He took a morning nap and then took a nap with the other kids. After the first week thought he went straight to one nap. This nap was 3 hours long (longer than his normal two nap days). He adjusted wonderfully and actually napped well for the first time.

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
When DD was that age she took 2 naps a day - morning & afternoon.
Remember if you are not happy where the babies are -- speak up! You're signing the tuition checks. Also -- isn't your center notifying you before moving the babies up? My day care center checks with the parents before moving up
Good luck!

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
When DS was in the 6-12 month room, they were allowed to sleep whenever they wanted. DS's schedule at the time was 2 naps: 10am and 2pm. He was 10 months old. He NEVER napped twice b/c of all that went on. He'd take one long nap around 12....
When he moved up to the next room (12-18 months) they napped once a day from 12-2ish... I wasn't sure if he was ready for one nap, but then again, he was only taking one nap. He also started to STTN when this was going on, so I wasn't complaining!

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
DD goes to in home daycare, that has 3 separate locations.
0-2 is in one location. When she was 11 months she was still taking 2 naps a day. Now she only takes 1 at daycare, but 2 on the days she is home.
She naps in a pack n play in a separate sleeping room.

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
DS moved up from infants to wobblers at 9 months. They took 2 naps a day - one in the morning, one in the afternoon, in cribs.
At 12 months, he moved to the walker room and it was a similar schedule, still in cribs.
He moved into the toddler room at 18 months where they take one nap on a mat.

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
At 11 months, he ws still in infant room (up to 18 months). He slept in a crib and had one nap a day. Daycare totally got him on the schedule of one long nap a day. He used to take several shorter naps.

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
DD is just about 12 months (this Saturday) and she will move up to the toddler room in September. She's been down to 1 nap since she was 5 months old, so she won't need much adjusting, I think.

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
at 11 months DS was still in the infant room. at first they werent going to move him until he could walk, but at 14 months he wasnt walking yet and they decided to move him anyway. i wasnt happy about it, but he ended up walking a couple of weeks later.
in the infant room they get 2 naps. in toddler room its 1 nap from 12:30-2:30. when they knew he was going to the new room, they started the transition to 1 nap about 2 months before.

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
DS was still in the infant room at that age taking about 2 naps.
When we moved he was 15 - 16 months and they put him in the toddler room where they take 1 nap on a cot. He adjusted pretty quickly to it, but any earlier and I don't think he would've been ready. He also didn't start walking till 14 months

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
DS is in in-home daycare so there are no "rooms." I think just about when he was a year, his daycare provider started napping him only one time a day. I didn't know how that would go, but he adjusted to it really well. He had always napped a million times better at daycare anyway so he would sleep for a good 2-3 hours.
At almost 2 he has his one nap a day there and, depending on the other kids sometimes, he will usually nap for at least 1.5-2 hours each time.

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
The norm is to move up at 12 months. That room is 12-18 months and they take 1 nap a day.
I moved him up at about 10 months because I wasn't happy with a few things in the other room. I was nervous but he did fine.
ETA: He was cruising in when he started but by his 1st bday he was walking.

Re: Daycare moms - q about rooms and naps for 11 month old
My boys didn't go down to one nap at daycare until they were about 14-15 months or so, maybe later.
Colin still sometimes needs more (he's 20-months today) so DH will put him up for a 30-45-minute nap when they get home depending on how he napped at school (like if he only did an hour at 12PM then he'll get another at 4:30/5ish)
