Napping or lack thereof at daycare/babysitters - 6 month old

My DD has never napped well in her crib, but for me she does it. Maybe not the first try but she does. My parents and a babysitter watch her (she is 6 months) and she refuses to nap in the PNP or if they are here, her own crib.

She even gives my DH a hard time. She then ends up napping in the bouncy seat or swing or car seat (if they go out).

What happens when she outgrows these items? She is 16 lbs and I know that pretty soon she won't be able to fit in these, so how will they be able to get her to nap.

She screams bloody murder if you try to put her down. Again, not for me, only everyone else. And they are doing the same routine as me, so I don't know what the deal is.

What do people at daycare places do, I heard they MUST nap in the crib, if my DD went to one, she would never nap then if they don't let them nap in the swing.

Any suggestions? I don't see my parents or babysitter being comfortable with CIO at this point. Considering, she is a screamer if she is not happy...Chat Icon

DD was notorious for this. She slept for me & hbugal and nobody else. On those days she just didn't nap until I picked her up. Then she would sleep in the car.

This probably isn't the best thing but my dd doesn't nap in a crib either. She's almost a year but when my mil watches her or I bring her to work with me I still bring her old carseat and the snap and go and wheel her around the house or office. She usually falls asleep in that. If not, she just doens't napChat Icon

I never had much of a problem with her..of course she had her moments but all kids do...Chat Icon

To answer the OP....Perhaps consistancy is an issue. Some kids need a very specific schedule in order to get to sleep. For my son..I can put him down whenever I want and he'll nap without making a peep. But that's just him...Dancinbarefoot's DD needed her routine to be a bit more structured. I knew her signs of being tired and I knew how to get her to sleep.

My suggestion would be that you, DH, and whoever is watching her stick to the same routine when it comes to putting her down for a nap. Kids cant tell time obviously. But if nap time comes after lunch you can easily make it routine.....that way...no matter what time lunch is...you can get her down for a nap. LUNCH, DIAPER CHANGE, BOTTLE, A LITTLE WALK AROUND THE HOUSE, CUDDLE, NAP....it will be tough in the beginning...but just stick to it and she'll get it...

In you situation she would probably have less of an issue at daycare....
