Daycare questions (nassau people especially, please help!)

I really need to start looking for daycares but im having such issues trying to figure out where we should even look

We live in Long Beach (but i think there is only one daycare in long beach), I work in Brooklyn, and DH works in Oysterbay. Dh will be the one dropping off in the morning and I will be the one picking up.

I have no clue where to even look! If we don't like the place in Long Beach or if they don't have any openings or whatever, I have no idea where else we should look. DH will be dropping off on his way to work and I don't want him to worry about running late by going out of the way. But Oysterbay is wayyy too far for me to drive to from brooklyn and then back to long beach. So I was thinking maybe a place in between long beach and oyster bay, really close to the parkways- either the meadowbrook or wantagh parkway. Does anyone have any suggestions on where we can go? Which towns to look into? Any recommendations?

Also, when you decide on a daycare do you need to know exactly when your child will be starting there? Im not positive how long i will be taking off yet. I want to try to stay out of work until May possibly, but im a teacher so my Chat Icon will only really need to be in daycare for may and june, then again for the full school year starting in september. Is this possible?

Sorry for all of the questions, I have no idea what Im doing haha and Im trying to sort this all out Chat Icon Any help would be appreciated! Thanks so much!

Jenise, I will ask a friend of mine who brings her daughter to daycare in Long Beach, but from what I know it's expensive.

I think there is only one in long beach (from what ive looked up anyways) so i figured that either it would be booked or wayy to expensive for us, which is why i have no idea where else we can look for daycares! ughh!

I had posted a question about daycares also last week. I will be in Plainview when Chat Icon is born and I am also a teacher. I am hoping to extend my leave but I may need daycare for April, May and June and then again in September for the full school year. I have no idea where to begin either...

a fellow LIf girl gave me this and it helped me out tremendously .

daycare

what about Rockville Center or Oceanside ?

I know the girl that works in Malverne daycare Learning Circle. She works in the infant room. Don't know if Malverne would be too far.

You should check out a few.

Even if it is a town or two over, if it's right by the parkway it would still be convenient, no ?

Good Luck!

Children stay in the infant section of the daycare until 1 year. everywhere I went they were able to tell me whether they would have a space open. Also, a few places had many spots. They said the economy and people losing their jobs took many of their children out of day care.
