Days and nights mixed up!
So, who has suggestions how to get my DD to sleep better at night? She is 3 weeks old, goes to sleep around 9 or 10:00 until 1 or 1:30, gets up to feed and is WIDE AWAKE until 4 or 5AM, I don't know how much more I can take of this

I know it probably feels like you're at your wits end but I do remember my daughter having her days and nights mixed up BIG time in the beginning. Give her a few more weeks and she'll probably start turning that around.

Re: Days and nights mixed up!
I found that one of the ways we switched this was to make sure all the lights are off during the night. I fed her in the dark and tried not to turn the tv on. (just enough light to see) Try to make it so there is nothing worth staying up for.

I agree, we had the same problem in the beginning. You have to establish day and night. Make sure it is bright and sunny during the day and very dark at night. It didn't take too too long.

Re: Days and nights mixed up!
For us, we have two distinct areas for sleeping. Downstairs is for day sleeping in the rocking chair, and upstairs in the bedroom is for sleeping in the night. This was the case for day one and its been no problem for us.
I remember seeing a Baby Whisperer programme with a new baby that had the same problem...but I can't remember what she suggested (sorry) but maybe her books have a solution.

Re: Days and nights mixed up!
I've done all of this and nothing is working... maybe I will take her out for walks this week, everyone says a few more weeks and it will be ok but every day feels like a month!

This worked for me too. With lights on it wound up actually being brighter in my home at night than during the day.

Re: Days and nights mixed up!
I was told @ 3 weeks... they cant have their days and nights confused....
But like everyone else said... keep lights on during the day.... dont tip toe around... make noise... and at night keep it quieter and darker.
