DC's baptism - issue with finding godmother and godfather
How did you pick your DC's godmother and godfather?
We have no family on LI. DH's family is Jewish. My family leaves overseas.
We have a limited amount of friends and they are either from another religion or no religious.
I would like to baptize DS but what are my options?

We were having a little trouble also as none of our family is too religious and most of our friends are Jewish.
One option that you do have is to have the church pick "sponsors" that will represent the parish as the godparents for the baptism.

I would check with the church, if you don't have godparents, they have people within the parish that can stand up with you at the altar. Godparents have no LEGAL binding to your child, they are just spiritual guiders, so members of the parish can do it too.
If that wouldn't work for you, check with the church for their regulations, but usually you can have a christian witness along with 1 full godparent who has taken all the sacraments.
My Dh's family is jewish too, so it was hard picking 2nd godparents for #2 for me too. One of them will be a christian witness since he didn't take all his sacraments.

Hi Sophie, I wonder if the church sponsors can stand up in honor of someone close to you guys like your family overseas. like they are standing up for them since they cant physically be here. good luck.
