DD has a fever and no other symptoms
She had 103.7 in the middle of the night... its now down to 101 with Motrin and Tylenol...
Do you think I should wait it out or bring her to the ped?
I would just hate to drag her all the way there for them to tell me its a virus and there's nothing they can do...kwim?

DS had the same thing, started in the am got up to 103 by last night, we took him to the doc and its just a virus. The doc said if it get up to 105 that is hwne to wrry, for now give him a cool bath and plenty of liquids and thats all.
He also said it might be Roseola ( spelling??) but Ds all ready had that iN agust can he get that again??

Bryan had this a few months ago. Of course I freaked when he had over 103. Called the dr. and he said it was viral. He had no other symptoms at all.

Yes you can roseola over and over again. My DD had a different roseola virus for a month straight!! She'd get better, then get it again from somewhere and this was august.
Fever without symptoms to me-ear infection, urinary tract infection or virus coming.
I'd give it a couple days,,if it's a virus the fever will be gone within 72 hours of it starting.
My ped gave me a trick to figure out if it's a virus...if the fever is high in the ear, temporal, forehead, take a rectal, if the rectal is below 98.6 or much lower than the fever up top, it's a virus.

DS had that once and the I called the Dr he said it was probably just a fever virus and to give Tylenol and motrin and wait and watch. Sure enough it was. That said you have to do what makes you comfortable.

his ear temp was 101, rectal 103.....DOc siad its viral NO ear infection, no strep... im sure he will be fine... BUT im stuck in the house GRRRR
