DD still waking up at 13 months?

She still wakes up once during the night. And honestly, I have to say that I always give in and give her a bottle because I just want to go back to sleep. (I need to wake up early for work) I'm sure the best thing to do is to let her just CIO, but she is not a self soother. Did anyone DC's outgrow this at a late age or do I just need to be strong and let her CIO?

Personally, I'd do CIO. We did it at 12 months with DS for literally the same reasons and CIO worked for us.

ITA with Kate. That bottle is nothing more than a soothing technique for her. The older she gets, the harder the habit to break.

She needs to learn how to soothe herself back to sleep. If you do CIO- do it when you have a few days off so the lack of sleep won't be too bad.

It took about 3 nights and DD was sleeping on her own. We used the book, "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child."

How does she go to sleep originally? Do you rock her? Does she fall asleep on the bottle? how about for naps?

She goes to bed fine without me rocking or anything. She does a bottle right before bed, but doesn't fuss or anything when I put her in the crib. Naps are great too with her.

Re: DD still waking up at 13 months?

Sorry to say, my DD woke up during the night until she was around 2. Up until that time she still nursed during the night once in a while. I usually just had her sleep in bed with me so I could go back to sleep & she would be happy. I was never big into the whole CIO thing. Not long after she turned 2 she stopped waking up & slept through the night in her own bed in her own room.

I could not agree more. Except we did it at around 13 months too. DD woke every night for a bottle too, and we'd go in, give it to her (she'd sleep while she drank it), and then she'd go back down. We were just kind of used to it. But then she was getting where she'd wake 2x/night Chat Icon , and we decided it was enough. We did CIO for like 2 nights...she whimpered/whined/cried for about 15 minutes the first night, then 10 minutes the next, then we were done Chat Icon And she's in a better mood now b/c she's getting solid, sound sleep.

I was not wanting to stop it either b/c I felt she "needed" the bottle in the middle of the night-- but she obviously didn't, and just eats more during the day-- it was just for habit/comfort.

Good luck Chat Icon

ETA: DD is not really a self-soother either. She needs to be asleep to take a nap (tapping to sleep on our shoulder for a minute or two) and falls alseep on the bottle at night Chat Icon which I know we need to break but it works fine for us. And even with that, she did CIO fine.

Re: DD still waking up at 13 months?

My dd has started this out of nowwhere.. i think its nightmares.. Dh started giving her bottle b/c it would put her back down and i stopped it b/c that would have just opened another can of worms to have to deal with. Now we just rock her for a bit and she falls back down to sleep. Once in awhile she wont go back down right away so we let her play a bit, then rock her and shell fall back to sleep. I wouldnt continue the bottle just because shell continue to wake up for that bottle.
