Re: Dear Lady in the Supermarket 30 minutes ago....
I hate that, but what if the express line was empty and the cashier tells the customer to come over knowing she had more than 12 items?
I have seen it where the express line was completely empty, and the cashier was authorized to ring somebody up if she had nobody else and the other lines were full of people.

I've done a few items over, but justify it that some items are the same - so that counts for one! I know it's bad, but my blood pressure goes up and I'm completely uncomfortable doing it.
ETS: really only a few items over - I never could survive my blood pressure rise if I went through with more than 5 over!

I had a woman throw a boxed apple pie at me once when I was a cashier!!!! I'm completely serious...right at my head but I used my elbow to deflect it from hitting me in the face!
i'm sorry but this made me laugh out loud. people are insane! what a waste of a good pie....

I worked at KK when I was HS, and kicked people off the line that had more than 10. I didnt care, it is express for a reason. One lady told me the 30 cans of cat food was ONE item because it was all the same. I kid you not.

Re: Dear Lady in the Supermarket 30 minutes ago....
I would of said something
I am the type of person that follows the signs, if there is 10 items or less i make sure i count before i hop on the line. Same for the 15 or less lines
I just cant believe people have the balls to do that. I would of made a big stink

I can't believe people that are called on to follow the rules posted on the GIGANTIC SIGN over the counter act like animals.

i always say something. embarasses the crap out of DH.
a few items, fine, but 20..??
I start by informing everyone else on the line about the person who is over the limit and how inconsiderate it is.
I talk loudly about it and I won't stop..
sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
people have no balls.
Wouldn't someone will balls just say something to the offending person?
well yes, but that's not half as fun and it's more fun to make a scene and make the person feel paranoid. why not have a little drama?

This happened to me. I was waiting on the "regular line". The cashier said to come on her line...I was like, but when someone else comes online they are going to get mad at ME When someone got online behind me, I made the cashier tell them, "she made me come on this line"

That's so annoying, but the cashier should have said something.
I was at a store once when the cashier DID say something and the guy FLIPPED OUT... he was so mean to her "I see people do this all the time! How DARE you call me out on this!! Call your manager because I want to tell him what an idiot you are!"
It was horrifying!
SAME HERE.
I WAS that cashier - in high school - and I even said it nicely! I was like "oh I'm sorry ma'am but this is an express line - other people sometimes get really upset so I can't ring you up - my boss is a stickler about it" or something to that effect and she FLIPPPPPPED on me and got my manager and everything! My manager did defend what I did and everything like that but she tried to claim I was nasty about it -- THANK GOD a witness told my manager that I said it in the most pleasant way possible lol that's how I am. But, after that I'm like here I am - I could have gotten in major trouble (demoted, fired) because that is how corporate works and for what? This lady? Oyyy.
Then, another time, two women got into a HUGE fight because one lady called her on the fact that she had way too many items. The woman I said it to had literally a full basket of items - I honestly thought she did NOT realize that it was an express line and came on by accident - her basket was FULL.
I absolutely hate when people do that - it is so ridiculous and rude. And now, since I can't get fired and no longer work as a cashier, I make it a point to tell people when they do that lol and I make sure to not be as nice about it either! LOL!

*** is wrong with people?! Seriously, an extra 5 or even 10 minutes on line isn't going to kill anyone. I don't get the sense of entitlement or the anger people have in these situations.
Sometimes, I think yoga should be mandatory for the whole world... A whole lot of people need to take a DEEP BREATH!
