Dear Parents who place book orders,
PLEASE FRIGGIN DOUBLE CHECK YOUR MATH!!!
I can't keep eating their mistakes. I know I shouldn't, but I'm up to $30 owing Scholastic. The first $28 I didn't catch. I don't know how it happened, but I got screwed. Now it's another $2.95 and the parents don't speak English, so I really can't say anything.
Last year, I caught a $35 mistake and informed the mom and she was so apologetic. I guess I now have to calculate EVERY order the kids place individually. Ugh!!!

oh i am SOO with you on this one.. i got to the point where i only accept checks.. screw it.. my pockets were book money empty.. and i was tired of scholastic and their collectors coming after me at work because some parent from a yr ago miscalculated and we underpaid..
as for the parents who don' speak english.. girl don't let them get away with it because of that..tell them in plain and basic spanish...

Re: Dear Parents who place book orders,
How do you get it so that it is Scholastic's issue and not mine?

honestly, it's your issue, not scholastic's. it's one thing if it's a dollar or two--they will eat that. but $30 is another story.
i only accept checks and also allow them to order online. i double check every order that comes in, and if there's a discrepancy, i won't place the order until i resolve it. i give the parents 2 days to get back to me on what they want to do, and if i don't hear back from them, i send in the order without theirs.
you shouldn't be paying for their mistakes. just send it back to them with a note on their options and give them a day or 2 to respond.

Re: Dear Parents who place book orders,
that's happened to me twice, and I just used my bonus points to come up with the difference.
