Dear Schools: (re: school break) ETA:
Can you PLEASE be on break forever???
1. I can actually get a parking spot at Hicksville. 2. I can get a spot AFTER 8:15am 3. The trains arent crowded. 4. There is not a lot of traffic in the way to Hicksville.
This is so nice. Schhol should NEVER be in session
ETA: It *IS* because parents take off tis week. Kids home=Parent home=less traffic, less crowding, more spots etc.

Re: Dear Schools: (re: school break)
While I kinda agree with the sentiment.. as a parent I wish school was in session all year!
However I agree traffic is easier without school. Perhaps we need school to just start earlier and end later? (kidding)

I am always amazed by the difference when school is out. Do THAT many people work in schools that traffic is so drastically affected?

A lot of parents take off as well.
Our schools went back today so the commute was back to normal.

I think a lot of parents take off too so that is why the roads are empty. They are all at Disney-lol.

Re: Dear Schools: (re: school break)
This is the best week!!!! The trains aren't as crowded. There's hardly any traffic. No getting stuck behind a cheese bus! Love it!!! It's unbelievable how many people are on the roads just due to schools being open.... what a difference during breaks & in the summer.

i am always amazed and wonder the same thing. I know people say parent take off as well. What about the summer? Traffic is always lighter when summer is here.

Same reason. Summer traffic is never as light as week long school breaks. Parents rotate through which week they take off during the summer, so even though people don't take all summer off, a large number of people are off on any particular week.

True. My ds only has 8 weeks of summer camp and 10 weeks off so those 2 weeks I have to take off with him.

i guess this could be true; i am just not use to that. My parents never alternated weeks off in the summer. I was at a babysitters, and the only time they would take off is when we would go on vacation; i see doing the same thing with my DC too.

When my kids went to daycare they would close that last week before labor day so I would have to take that week off also.
