Dear West Babylon (and people)--UPDATE with what the helicopter was
After posting about the firecrackers, dh and I were watching tv about 1230. All of a sudden a car comes down our street and we hear something smash. We run outside as do the people next door and they see that someone smashed their mirror off their car that was parked in the street.
We come back inside and once again, minding our own business and we see a helicopter. Spotlight and all. Clearly they were searching for someone. Of course we were staring out the window following it. Dh says it was a few streets over by us, I said it was further down. Helicopter search was for well over an hour. Or so I think bc I then begin to start dozing. I just kept telling dh to make sure dd's windows were locked. If I didn't have dd and this was 10 years ago, I sure as SSShhit would have jumped in the car with my friend and gone to find the spotlight lol.
Wait there's more. It's now about 2 am. We SWEAR we hear a gunshot. I mean SWEAR. Don't know exactly where it was, but it was to our right and closer than we'd like.
Now I know it's labor day weekend and people are excited to be off today  but really? it was too much in 1 night.
Finally about 230 I threw in the towel. I didn't want to know anything else that was going to happen last night because I'm sure that it wasn't it.
Anyone have any clue what was going on? Too bad I can't log onto newsday

It was a home invasion on Oregon Rd. Police found 2 of the suspects but 1 is still on the loose. just saw it on the news.
ETA: Where is Oregon St?

Omg that's scary. Maybe it's by Arizona st? By the SS pkway bridge? I definately heard the helicopter, I'm in Deer Park, but maybe it passed me en route to the area? Who knows, I'm glad you and your family are safe though!

I only know the # streets lol. I just moved here last year.
I was thinking it was further down straight path but I guess not. Hope they find the 3rd person.

Oregon is on the NB side of Little East Neck. Kind of behind that gas station nearest the town Christmas tree. Waaaaaaay too close for comfort.
