Debate in my office - about flying and seating
Ok - my bosses son just asked me if I like sitting in the middle seat on an airplane (figure it is three seats, then the aisle, then another three seats).
I said I HATE it and because DH has long legs, when we travel, I usually picks seats for us, both on the aisle across from each other.
So another guy I work with says he HATES when people do that because we are taking up to aisles.
I tried to explain that, number one - you wouldn't want to be sitting next to me if I was in the middle because I am clostrophobic and would be miserable....and that number tw o -it leaves 2 seats on either side for people to sit together - which to me sounds better than the 1 seat in by the window that some person has to squish in to...
Do you think there is ANYTHING wrong with me booking two aisle seats if we are more comfortable with it? I don't.

Re: Debate in my office - about flying and seating
no- you can have what ever seats you want-
that's actually a good idea- b/c Jake is always on top of me b/c he is so much bigger- it would be better for me to sit across instead of in the middle like always!

I dont either -- they are first come first served.
I wish I could get DH to go with that. He's super tall and I get cramped up in the middle seat all the time.

I just have to know that I can get up and go to the bathroom as much as I want without having to jump over someone (I have issues! )

If the plane is three seats and aisle and three seats, DH and I either book two aisle seats or an aisle and a window (and then I take my chances that our middle seat is empty).
I would never intentionally book a middle seat unless it was a dire emergency.

Re: Debate in my office - about flying and seating
I don't mind that but I do mind a little bit when a couple will sit in an aisle and a window seat and leave the middle one for someone else to take, but talk over that middle person the entire flight. I have had this happen to me before and its so annoying. I know its every person for themselves and if I don't like it I should have booked a seat sooner, it's just annoying

If someone else books the middle seat, what do you do? Do one of you swap seats, not talk to DH during the entire flight or talk over the person sitting there?

Nothing wrong with you booking the flight that way at all. Airlines are first come, first serve. If he wants an aisle, tell him to call early & book his seat. It's not fault you plan well.

Re: Debate in my office - about flying and seating
nothing wrong with it at all! You're paying for the flight the same as the next person!
DH and I did this for our return flight from paris, because I was NOT going to sit in a middle seat for 8 hours! As it was we got upgraded to first class, we weren't sitting together but the the other person switched seats with me so I could sit with DH.

Re: Debate in my office - about flying and seating
Nothing wrong with it at all. Its totally first come first serve. People have a choice- they can book another aisle. Personally, I prefer the window. I hate having to move every time someone wants to go to the bathroom.
In fact, someoen gave me the brilliant idea to book an aisle and window next time we fly. How many people want to book the middle? Especially when flying with a baby. That way we hope to get the whole row.

I am an aisle person and DH is a window person. We rarely sit together! I search high and low for an empty row to nap in!

You paid for your seats. You should be entitled to chose which ones you want.

Re: Debate in my office - about flying and seating
nope, my parents do the same thing. I prefer a window seat, so I can see what's going on out there. I hate the middle seat because 9 times outta 10 I'm next to someone 700 pds or so ridiculously annoying I want to open the cabin door and jump.

Swap seats. DH gives up the window seat to our new neighbor, I go in the middle and DH takes the aisle.
