Constipation is TOTALLY normal- but I don't know about the blood. I would give your doctor a call. I'm sure its nothing, but its better to have someone with an MD tell you that.

My prenatals have a stool softener in them(Citrical). Colace(when it gets bad) and eat Fiber One or Raisin Bran cereals.

Constipation is very common - I have been having a real hard time with this. I've been taking stool softeners (2 in the morning and 2 in the evening) and metamucil once a day and its helping. I also drink a lot of water and try to eat high fiber foods.

I'm not sure about the blood though. It is probably just hemroids but you should talk to your dr about it.

I've been battling the same thing for the last 2 weeks with the blood too. The blood is prob the membranes tearingChat Icon It hurts so bad! I've know what's been causing it-i've been eating too much white flour and not enough veggies and oils.
Keep drinking that water and try eating some roughage, or colace works.

If you have blood when you poo, it could be a fissure. I have suffered terribly from one and I am currently on a "heavy cocktail of laxatives" (a phrase which always makes me laugh) through a specialist. I drink 2 metamucils a day and take an artificial sugar substance called lactulose which draws water out of your gut to help prevent constipation.

It was so bad at one point I was losing sleep 2/3 nights a week due to the pain, but now its clearing up. I would go to see your doctor to talk about this because it could get worse as your pregnancy advances. For me it has taken around 5 weeks to start to clear up, but I would take some action before you get to the stage where I was.

I hope you feel better! Keep your chin up and see your doctor!

I recommend Fiber Choice tablets. The fruit flavors are the best ones. I used to chew 2 a day and they helped so much...even better than Colace.

Amen. I had what looked like tree logs coming out of my butt at times. How embarrassing that I was on the bowl having the fight of my life while company was over Chat Icon I was in such misery (and I don't recommend this AT ALL) that I begged DH to get me an enema. Oh what a relief!Chat Icon

The constipation is definitely normal...however, I really don't know about the blood. Some of the girls have already said what they think it could be...but, please check with your doctor.

I'm sure all is fine though...
