People RAN TOWARDS a building that had men go in with guns and stuck around?  why?
Heck I see guns going into a building and I'd be heading as far from it as possible. One stray bullet is all it takes. I would hate to the the story of "Yeah she was curious and there was a crowd of people a block away, shame that bullet got her out of all the others, huh?"
Glad everyone (including spectators) were ok. No that's not meant as a jibe, but honestly.. EVERY ONE is lucky. Guns are so unforgiving.

I had no idea what was happening when I went down the block. All I saw was a crowd of people. The block where the incident was occurring was taped off, as were surrounding blocks.
You're kind of making it sound as though I - along with all of the neighbors - saw a gunman run into a building and we dashed up the stairs after him. I don't think it's that strange for a group of people to want to see what is going on when there's yellow tape, cops, helicopters, and the like. I see it all the time.

My sister owns a house on North Ascan in Elmont (she rents all 3 floors out now) but that would actually happen a couple times a year.... Low riding helicopters trying to find bank roppers, or someone who robbed a store, etc... My in-laws live in Elmont still... What part are you in?
